  • Pedro Strop RP | CHC

Cubs' Pedro Strop: Blows save against Reds

Strop blew his fourth save of the season in Friday's 3-2, 10-inning win over the Reds, as he allowed a game-tying solo home run in the ninth inning.

Strop was tasked with protecting a 2-1 Chicago lead and he quickly allowed a game-tying blast to Cincinnati slugger Eugenio Suarez to lead off the top of the ninth. However, Strop minimized the damage by retiring the next three hitters in order, and he still has a solid 2.56 ERA for the season. Despite Friday's hiccup, the 33-year-old righty should remain the team's closer for however long Brandon Morrow (biceps) is on the disabled list.

  • Jesse Chavez RP | ATL

Cubs' Jesse Chavez: Picks up first win in Cubs uniform

Chavez (4-2) picked up the win Friday against the Reds, firing a perfect 10th inning with a strikeout.

Chavez retired the Reds in order on 15 pitches in the top of the 10th inning, then grabbed his first win in a Cubs uniform when David Bote delivered a walkoff home run in the bottom half of the inning. The veteran righty has been outstanding with his new team, as he now has a 1.40 ERA across his first 19.1 innings in Chicago, and he's quickly turned into a trusted bullpen option for manager Joe Maddon.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Heads back to DL

Hudson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right forearm tightness ahead of Friday's game against the Padres, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Hudson had just been reinstated from the disabled list Aug. 17, but he'll go back on the shelf for at least 10 more days. The severity of the injury is unclear, although more news on a timetable for his return should emerge in the near future. Hudson owns a 4.11 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and 44 strikeouts across 46 innings this season.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Dodgers' Yimi Garcia: Activated from DL

Garcia (forearm) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Garcia completed his rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he'll return to action after landing on the disabled list July 7 with right forearm inflammation. He's accrued a 5.21 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 19 innings out of the bullpen this season, so he's unlikely to see many high-leverage opportunities upon his return. Daniel Hudson (forearm) was moved to the DL in a corresponding move.

  • Giants' Dereck Rodriguez: Reinstated from disabled list

Rodriguez (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day DL prior to Friday's start against Texas.

Rodriguez only missed one turn through the rotation due to a hamstring strain he suffered just over a week ago. In a corresponding move, the club optioned Casey Kelly to the minors. He will look to earn a sixth straight quality start against an underrated Rangers' offense.

  • Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Placed on disabled list

Hernandez was put on the 10-day DL prior to Friday's game due to right middle finger blister, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Hernandez picked up the injury during Thursday's spot start against Atlanta, which forced him to exit that game after just three innings. He will be eligible to come off the disabled list Sept. 3.

  • Jarlin Garcia RP | PIT

Marlins' Jarlin Garcia: Moves to DL

Garcia was put on the 10-day disabled list due to a right ankle contusion Friday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Garcia suffered the injury during Thursday's game when he was struck by a Nick Markakis line drive in the fifth inning. He will be eligible to return from the shelf Sept. 3.

  • Marlins' Kyle Barraclough: Activated from DL

Barraclough (back) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday's game, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

As expected, Barraclough will rejoin the Marlins' bullpen after being placed on the DL on Aug. 10 due to lower-back stiffness. He didn't require any sort of rehab assignment, but experienced no issues during a pair of simulated games over the past week.

  • Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Dealing with blister

Hernandez suffered a blister during Thursday's start against the Braves, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez made a spot start for the suspended Jose Urena and was on a limited pitch count, and lasted only three innings Thursday. The blister appears to have been a problem earlier in the season as well, but it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old will be forced to miss any additional time.

  • Jarlin Garcia RP | PIT

Marlins' Jarlin Garcia: Likely DL bound

Garcia is likely headed to the disabled list after being hit by a line drive in the right shin during Thursday's game against the Braves, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old was struck by a 105.8 mph line drive off the bat of Nick Markakis during the fifth inning and was forced to exited the game. Thankfully, Garcia only appears to be dealing with a bruise as X-rays came back negative, but he is still expected to miss some time.
