Peters was designated for assignment Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Peters was booted from the 40-man roster to make room for a prospect ahead of the Rule 5 draft deadline. He appeared in seven games (five starts) for the Marlins a season ago, struggling to a 7.16 ERA with 17 strikeouts across 27.2 frames.

Yamamoto's contract was purchased from Double-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Yamamoto was added to the team's 40-man roster in order to protect the young right-hander from the Rule 5 draft. The 22-year-old, who was one of four prospects acquired from the Brewers in exchange for Christian Yelich, impressed in his first year with the Marlins, posting a combined 1.83 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 in 68.2 innings (13 starts) across three minor-league levels (rookie ball, High-A and Double-A).

Guzman was added to Miami's 40-man roster Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Guzman was one of six prospects added to the 40-man roster for protection from the Rule 5 draft. The 22-year-old has a lively fastball and appears to have a bright future despite not advancing past High-A ball through his first four seasons in Miami's farm system.

Medina's contract was selected by the Phillies on Tuesday.

Medina hasn't made it past High-A ball in his young professional career, but the Phillies clearly see potential in the 21-year-old right-hander and have added him to the 40-man roster to shield him from the Rule 5 draft. He figures to begin the 2019 campaign at Double-A Reading.

Herget joined Cincinnati's 40-man roster Tuesday.

Herget was shifted to the Reds' 40-man roster for Rule 5 protection. The 25-year-old has served as strictly a reliever through four seasons of minor-league ball, making him one of the least relevant fantasy prospects shielded.

Payamps had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Payamps' addition to the team's 40-man roster means the 24-year-old right-hander is protected from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. He posted a 2.90 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 9.6 K/9 across 90.0 innings with Double-A Jackson in 2018, but he struggled at the highest level of the minors, finishing with a 7.18 ERA and 1.71 WHIP across 26.1 innings with the Aces. He figures to head back to Triple-A to begin the 2019 campaign, though he could be a candidate for a back-end rotation spot at some point during the season.

Clarke had his contract purchased from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks promoted Clarke to their 40-man roster in order to avoid exposing him to the upcoming Rule 5 draft. Across 27 starts for the Aces in 2018, Clarke posted a 4.03 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 125:44 K:BB across 152 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander could be in the mix for a back-end rotation spot in 2019.

Cabrera's contract was selected by the Cardinals on Tuesday.

St. Louis protected Cabrera from the Rule 5 draft by placing him on the 40-man roster. The 22-year-old lefty spent the majority of his 2018 season with the Rays' Double-A Montgomery affiliate before being traded to the Cardinals just prior to the July deadline. He accrued a 4.27 ERA with 145 punchouts over 137 innings at Double-A last season.

Helsley (shoulder) was added to the Cardinals' 40-man roster Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

This move ensures that the 24-year-old right-hander will be protected from being taken in the Rule 5 draft. Helsley was hindered by a shoulder injury in 2018, but he has a 3.77 ERA and 39:12 K:BB in 31 frames against Triple-A competition over the last two seasons. With as much time as he missed in 2018, he likely won't start the season in the majors, but he could find his way to St. Louis if he can maintain his nice K:BB numbers at Memphis.

Weigel (elbow) was added to the Braves' 40-man roster Tuesday.

A hard-throwing righty who underwent Tommy John surgery in June of 2017, Weigel should report to spring training with minimal restrictions, as he embarked on a rehab assignment at the end of the 2018 season. He struggled in a brief taste of Triple-A before tearing his UCL, and will likely return to that level at the outset of 2019. In most organizations he would be on track to be a starter, but the Braves have so much high-end pitching depth that it's possible they transition Weigel to a relief role sooner than later.
