Padres' Ryan Weathers: Picks up fourth win

Weathers (4-2) got the win Tuesday over the Nationals despite allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out two over 5.1 innings.

Weathers was fortunate to come away with a win after a shaky performance. He allowed seven hits but all four runs he gave up came via the long ball after Josh Harrison cranked a three-run blast and Juan Soto had a solo shot. At just 21 years old, Weathers has held his own against big-league hitters this season with a 3.02 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB over 56.2 innings. He's expected to take the mound one more time at home against the Rockies over the weekend before the All-Star break gets underway.

  • Mark Melancon RP | ARI

Padres' Mark Melancon: Secures 26th save

Melancon fired a perfect ninth inning Tuesday against the Nationals to protect a three-run lead and record his 26th save of the year.

Melancon sent the Nationals' hitters down on just eight pitches, getting each one of them out on weak contact. It was a great bounceback performance from the 36-year-old after he was shelled for two runs in a blown save against the Reds his last time out. He owns a 2.21 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB over 36.2 innings and has converted 26 of his 30 save chances so far this season.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Takes tough loss in 10th

Treinen (2-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Marlins after allowing one run (unearned) with no hits or walks while striking out one.

Treinen finished the final out of the ninth inning during a 1-1 tie and re-entered in the 10th. Unfortunately a wild pitch allowed the extra-inning baserunner, Starling Marte, to eventually score after a throwing error by catcher Will Smith at third base. It was a messy ending to the game during an otherwise strong outing by Treinen. The right-hander has pitched well in the setup role this season, compiling a 2.86 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while finding himself in a three-way tie for the most holds in the league with 17 overall.

  • Jake Reed RP | LAD

Dodgers' Jake Reed: Makes MLB debut in relief

Reed recorded two outs against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Reed entered the sixth inning to record the final two outs for starter Tony Gonsolin. It wasn't the cleanest outing, but the right-hander managed to get the job somewhat done in what became a 1-1 score due to a fielding error by Gavin Lux. Reed, whose contract was selected by the Dodgers ahead of Tuesday's game, recorded a 2.61 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 10.1 innings across nine relief appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He's expected to mostly work in low-leverage situations for the Dodgers.

  • Tyler Beede RP | CHC

Giants' Tyler Beede: Activated from IL

The Giants reinstated Beede (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Beede began his minor-league rehab May 6, totaling 12 appearances with a 6.56 ERA and 40:32 K:BB across 35.2 innings. Per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Beede will be available out of the bullpen starting Tuesday, but he could be an option to start Friday against Washington, depending on how the San Francisco pitching staff stands after the next couple games.

  • Jordan Weems RP | LAD

Diamondbacks' Jordan Weems: Officially added to 26-man roster

Weems was added to the Diamondbacks' 26-man roster prior to Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Weems was claimed off waivers from Oakland on Monday, and he'll now join Arizona's big-league roster, as expected. The right-hander allowed three earned runs on two hits and four walks across 4.1 major-league innings before being DFA'd by the A's on Saturday.

  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Back from injured list

Finnegan (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

The right-hander threw a simulated game over the weekend, so he'll make his return from the injured list without heading to the minors for a rehab assignment. Finnegan has seven holds with a 3.86 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 36:17 K:BB across 30.1 innings this season.

  • Dodgers' Garrett Cleavinger: Returns to big leagues

Cleavinger was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

The southpaw was sent down Monday despite holding a tidy 2.03 ERA across 13.1 big-league innings this season. With Victor Gonzalez (foot) placed on the injured list Tuesday, Cleavinger is set to rejoin the club after just the one day back in the minors.

  • Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Placed on 10-day IL

Gonzalez was placed on the 10-day injured list with left plantar fasciitis Tuesday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Gonzalez had made relief appearances in each of the last two games, and he allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two in 1.2 innings. Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that he's hopeful it will be a short IL stint for the southpaw, which indicates that he could be activated when the club returns from the All-Star break July 16. Left-hander Garrett Cleavinger was recalled by the Dodgers in a corresponding move.

  • Jacob Webb RP | CHC

Braves' Jacob Webb: Recalled by Atlanta

Webb was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Webb was sent to the minors in late June, and he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out nine in 4.2 innings across four relief appearances during his most recent stint at Triple-A Gwinnett. The right-hander should reclaim a low-leverage role in Atlanta's bullpen after he posted a 5.29 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 17 innings across 17 relief appearances in the big leagues earlier in the season. Pablo Sandoval was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.
