Tanner Rainey RP | DET
Nationals' Tanner Rainey: Gets back on mound
Rainey (lower leg) tossed a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
According to Dougherty, Rainey was throwing from a distance shorter than the standard 60 feet to home plate, so he has yet to complete a traditional bullpen session since landing on the injured list in late June with a stress reaction in his right tibia. That said, the Nationals believe Rainey is ahead of schedule in his recovery from the injury. A firmer target date for Rainey's return from the IL should emerge once he's facing hitters in live batting practice, but based on where he currently stands in his throwing program, he'll be hard pressed to make it back before the end of July.

Jarlin Garcia RP | PIT
Giants' Jarlin Garcia: Earns win Monday
Garcia (2-2) struck out two batters over 1.1 perfect innings as he earned the win over the Dodgers on Monday.
Garcia entered with two outs in the fifth to face the left-handed Cody Bellinger and took care of business. He came back out for the sixth and induced a quick groundout before striking out the final two batters he faced. The 28-year-old has collected two wins and two holds in his last four outings, and he's held the opposition scoreless in his last six appearances -- a 6.1-inning span in which he's struck out 10 while allowing just one hit and one walk. For the year, he owns a 3.13 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB over 31.2 innings.

Anthony Banda RP | MIN
Mets' Anthony Banda: Credited with first win
Banda (1-0) gave up two unearned runs on four hits over 1.1 innings of relief Monday, blowing the save but recording the win in a 15-11 extra-innings victory over the Reds.
Added to the roster Monday, Banda was called into action immediately after Edwin Diaz blew the save in the ninth inning, but the southpaw allowed Cincy's phantom runner to score in both the 10th and 11th. Given his career 5.81 ERA in the majors, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Banda shuffled back to Triple-A to make room for a fresh bullpen arm, but if he does stick around, he'll likely remain in a long-relief role.

Trevor May RP | ATH
Mets' Trevor May: Nabs third save
May struck out one while recording the final two outs of the 11th inning in Monday's 15-11 win over the Reds, picking up his third save of the season.
Edwin Diaz blew the save in the ninth and has failed to convert his last three chances, and that's opened the door for May to notch saves in his last two appearances. The former Twin has only been scored upon once in his last 14 games, posting a 1.32 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB in 13.2 innings over that stretch. While Seth Lugo could also factor into the late-inning mix if the Mets make a change at closer, May figures to get the first shot at replacing Diaz.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Blows third straight save
Diaz gave up one run on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning of Monday's 15-11 extra-innings win over the Reds, blowing his fourth save of the season. He struck out two.
The last thing Mets fans wanted to see was the return of Bad Edwin, but that's exactly what's happened, as the right-hander blew his third straight save chance when Jesse Winker drove in the tying run Monday with a double. Diaz has coughed up seven runs over those three appearances, taking the loss in two of them, and the rough stretch has ballooned his ERA from 2.86 to to 4.30. Trevor May wound up recording the save in the 11th, and he could be in line for more save opportunities if Diaz can't right the ship quickly.

Elieser Hernandez RP | ATL
Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Throws bullpen session
Hernandez (quadriceps) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Hernandez has made just two big-league starts this season, exiting both of them with injuries which wound up sending him to the 60-day injured list. He won't be eligible to return from his latest issue, a strained quadriceps, until early August. Whether or not he'll make it back when first eligible remains to be seen, but he's at least trending in the right direction.

Anthony Banda RP | MIN
Mets' Anthony Banda: Joins big-league bullpen
Banda was called up by the Mets on Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Banda joined the Mets in a trade from the Giants in early July. He owns a 5.96 ERA in 51.1 career major-league innings, none of which have come this season. In 49.2 Triple-A innings split between the two organizations this season, he's struggled to a 6.52 ERA.

Reiss Knehr RP | SD
Padres' Reiss Knehr: Could start Tuesday
The Padres may promote Knehr from Triple-A El Paso to start Tuesday against Atlanta, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Knehr is with the team as part of the taxi squad and could be called upon for at least one spot start. Monday's game is threatened by rain, however, so the Padres won't finalize their plans until they know when they'll wind up playing. Knehr made his big-league debut earlier this season but appeared just once, giving up two earned runs in 3.2 innings.

Andrew Bellatti RP | PHI
Marlins' Andrew Bellatti: Contract selected by Marlins
Bellatti's contract was selected by the Marlins on Monday.
The 29-year-old has 23.1 innings of big-league experience under his belt, all of which came back in 2015 for the Rays. He's thrown 10 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville this season, allowing three runs while striking out 12 batters. He'll likely serve in a low-leverage role during his time in the majors.

Dillon Peters RP | PIT
Pirates' Dillon Peters: Traded to Pirates
Peters was traded from the Angels to the Pirates on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Peters was designated for assignment by the Angels on Wednesday, but he'll land another spot on a 40-man roster going forward. The southpaw posted a 4.35 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 41.1 innings across eight starts at Triple-A Salt Lake to begin the year, and he's been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis going forward. Right-hander Kyle Crick was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
