  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

    Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Unavailable Tuesday

Manager Dave Roberts said Kelly (hamstring) is unavailable for Tuesday's game at San Francisco, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

The veteran right-hander tweaked his hamstring during Sunday's win over the Rockies and will be sidelined for at least one game. It's not believed to be a serious issue, so Kelly could be available for Wednesday's contest.

  • Adonis Medina RP | SEA

Phillies' Adonis Medina: Activated from injured list

Medina (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

It never became clear what forced Medina to the IL, but he'll now return to the active roster after missing just under four weeks. The right-hander will resume his Triple-A campaign with a 5.73 ERA.

  • Cory Abbott RP | SEA

Cubs' Cory Abbott: Recalled from Triple-A

The Cubs recalled Abbott from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The righty has pitched 11.1 innings of relief for the Cubs this season, posting a 6.35 ERA with eight strikeouts and seven walks across his five appearances. It's unclear what the intended role is for Abbott, who has been starting in Triple-A but has only worked as a reliever at the big-league level.

  • Cubs' Keegan Thompson: Optioned to minors

The Cubs optioned Thompson to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Thompson struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday. The righty has appeared in 27 games for the Cubs this season, posting a 2.21 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 40.2 innings of work. Kyle Ryan was recalled from Iowa in a corresponding move Tuesday.

  • JD Hammer RP | COL

Phillies' JD Hammer: Reinstated from COVID-19 IL

Hammer was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

Hammer landed on the COVID-19 IL on July 20. He wound up spending just seven days off the active roster, which indicates he most likely never tested positive for the virus. The right-hander has not appeared in a big-league game since mid-June, but he did not allow an earned run in either of his two one-inning outings this season.

  • Angel Perdomo RP | LAA

Brewers' Angel Perdomo: Returns to minors

Perdomo was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Perdomo appeared in three games after being called up July 17, allowing one run and striking out six in 2.2 innings of work. His 6.46 ERA in 2021 doesn't exactly merit a return to the Brewers, but injuries in the bullpen could certainly give him another opportunity before the season ends. Devin Williams (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move Tuesday.

  • Devin Williams RP | NYM

Brewers' Devin Williams: Returns from IL

Williams (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

The changeup specialist ultimately missed the minimum amount of time after landing on the injured list July 17 with elbow soreness. Before the injury, Williams had held opponents scoreless in six consecutive appearances and 14 of his last 15. On the season, the righty has 15 holds in 18 opportunities as one of Milwaukee's top high-leverage relief options.

  • Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Ready to face hitters

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Hernandez (quadriceps) will face hitters in a live batting practice session at the team's spring training facility in Jupiter, Fla., Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez was able to complete bullpen sessions last week without incident, so he'll move on to the next phase of his rehab from a strained right quad. If he steers clear of any setbacks while throwing live BP, Hernandez could then head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 26-year-old right-hander has made just two starts for the big club this season, as he previously missed two months of action with right biceps tendon inflammation.

  • Tony Santillan RP | CIN

Reds' Tony Santillan: Solid in relief Monday

Santillan struck out three while allowing one hit over 1.2 innings Monday against the Cubs in relief of starter Wade Miley.

Santillan had a couple of rough appearances after the All-Star break, but he's now thrown three straight scoreless outings, striking out at least two in each. That may not seem like much, but it might be enough to put him in a higher-leverage spot his next time out.

  • Marlins' Andrew Bellatti: Outrighted off 40-man roster

The Marlins outrighted Bellatti to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Miami exposed Bellatti to waivers after designating him for assignment over the weekend, and given his status as a 29-year-old journeyman reliever, he unsurprisingly went unclaimed by MLB's other 29 organizations. Bellatti will thus head back to Jacksonville after a brief cameo out of the Miami bullpen -- his first big-league action since 2015. He appeared in two games for the Marlins, giving up five earned runs on six hits and one walk over 2.1 innings.
