  • Daniel Castano RP | MIA

Marlins' Daniel Castano: Picks up first win

Castano (1-1) earned the win against the Nationals on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two over five innings.

Castano threw 51 of 82 pitches for strikes, and though he allowed three runs, only one was earned because of throwing errors in the second inning. Castano appeared in three games this season as a reliever, but he has started in his last four appearances. He will take a 2.42 ERA into his next outing.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

Diamondbacks' J.B. Bukauskas: Shifts to Reno

Bukauskas (shoulder) had his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A Reno on Saturday, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Bukauskas made two appearances at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, striking out three over two scoreless innings, before shifting north to Reno. He pitched for the Aces on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless frame.

  • Sean Hjelle RP | SF

Giants' Sean Hjelle: Returning to majors Sunday

Hjelle will be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Sunday's game against the White Sox, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Hjelle will return to provide length behind starter John Brebbia, who has not pitched more than two innings in an appearance this season. The 6-foot-11 Hjelle pitched five scoreless innings for Sacramento his last time out June 26, allowing two hits while striking out six.

  • Cubs' David Robertson: Secures 11th save

Robertson allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Red Sox.

Robertson had to navigate baserunners for the first time in three appearances. Jarren Duran hit a double and stole third in the ninth inning and Xander Bogaerts drew a walk, but Robertson finished the save by getting Alex Verdugo to line out. In his last seven outings, Robertson has converted four of five save chances and picked up a win while allowing just one run. He's posted a 1.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 41:14 K:BB with 11 saves in 14 chances across 31.1 innings this year.

  • Mark Leiter RP | ATH

Cubs' Mark Leiter: Earns win in impromptu outing

Leiter (2-2) earned the win in Saturday's victory over the Red Sox. He allowed a run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Starter Alec Mills (back) exited the contest after just seven pitches and one out, with Leiter stepping in for his longest appearance of the year. The right-hander has started three of his 11 outings in the majors this year, and he'd be a candidate to join the rotation if Mills can't make his next scheduled start, though Marcus Stroman (shoulder) could be good to go by next weekend if he only needs one rehab start. Leiter has pitched to mixed results with a 4.85 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through 29.2 innings overall.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Gets back on track

Bednar saved Saturday's 7-4 win against the Brewers, recording one walk and one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Bednar appeared to have the night off, but Milwaukee scored twice in the eighth inning to necessitate his services. After struggling in his most recent appearance Thursday, the 27-year-old issued a four-pitch walk to Christian Yelich to lead off the ninth. He then retired the next three Brewers in order to register his first save since June 15. Despite surrendering six runs over his prior 4.1 innings, Bednar still possess a quality 2.43 ERA and even 1.00 WHIP with 50 strikeouts through 37 innings.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Giants' John Brebbia: Named Sunday's starter

Brebbia will start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Brebbia will get the ball to start after Anthony DeSclafani (ankle) was placed back on the injured list, but he should not be expected to pitch deep into the ballgame. Sean Hjelle will return from the minors to provide length behind Brebbia, who has not thrown more than two innings in an appearance this season.

  • Bryse Wilson RP | PHI

Pirates' Bryse Wilson: Snags first win

Wilson (1-4) earned the win during Saturday's 7-4 victory over Milwaukee, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings.

Wilson was far from stellar Saturday as he hit two Brewers in addition to permitting eight hits and a walk, but he was able to limit the damage to just two runs while receiving seven runs of support. The 24-year-old fired 54 of 85 pitches for strikes but recorded just five swinging strikes, though the four strikeouts match his second-best total in seven starts this year. With the solid performance, Wilson will likely stick in the rotation for at least one more turn with a start scheduled for midweek against Cincinnati.

  • Caleb Ferguson RP | CIN

Dodgers' Caleb Ferguson: Expected back next week

Ferguson (forearm) is likely to be activated off the injured list in the middle of next week, Matthew Moreno of Dodger Blue reports.

Ferguson has been on the injured list due to left forearm tendinitis since June 20. He's been able to toss live batting practice sessions during the past week and is expected to throw to teammate Mookie Betts (ribs) on Saturday, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Before landing on the injured list, Ferguson had hurled five scoreless innings over six appearances this season, picking up three holds but notching a less-than-ideal 5:4 K:BB.

  • Alexis Diaz RP | TEX

Reds' Alexis Diaz: Slated to throw bullpen Sunday

Diaz (biceps) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Diaz is scheduled to throw live BP on Wednesday following Sunday's throwing session, so he should remain on the 15-day injured list until at least late next week. The right-hander could take on a setup role once he returns to action since Hunter Strickland has performed well as the Reds' closer recently.
