Brusdar Graterol RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Converts second save
Graterol allowed a hit and struck out two to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rockies.
Graterol had no trouble protecting a three-run lead Tuesday. He stepped into the closer role with Craig Kimbrel (back) currently day-to-day -- if Kimbrel goes on the injured list, Graterol would likely continue to see save chances. Both of the 23-year-old's saves this year have come in his last five appearances. He's added a 3.55 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB across 38 innings while adding eight holds, a blown save and a 2-3 record in a career-high 35 appearances.

Dominic Leone RP | CHW
Giants' Dominic Leone: Melts down Tuesday
Leone (3-1) took the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks. He was charged with four runs on two hits and two hits with one strikeout in one-third of an inning.
Leone had a one-run lead to protect in the eighth inning. He struggled with command and threw a pair of wild pitches before he was replaced by Camilo Doval, who gave up a three-run home run to Daulton Varsho. The poor outing from Leone stands in contrast to his steady June (1.74 ERA in 10.1 innings). He's still surrendering too many baserunners, as evidenced by his 1.48 WHIP to go with a 3.64 ERA and 33:11 K:BB across 29.2 innings this year. He's added a save, 10 holds and two blown saves as a high-leverage option, though Leone is still unlikely to get regular save chances.

Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW
Diamondbacks' Tyler Gilbert: Solid in short start
Gilbert allowed a run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Tuesday.
The lone run against Gilbert was a sacrifice fly by Joc Pederson in the fourth inning. While he didn't pitch deep into Tuesday's game, throwing 34 strikes among 56 pitches, Gilbert put in a solid effort for a spot starter. He has a 6.86 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB across 19.2 innings overall at the big-league level in 2022. If he remains in the rotation, he's lined up for a home start versus the Rockies this weekend.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Pirates' David Bednar: Logs 13th save
Bednar pitched a scoreless ninth inning, giving up only one hit while striking out one batter to earn the save in a 5-2 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.
Bednar was called upon to protect a three-run Pirates lead in the top of the ninth. He pitched an uneventful frame, which prevented the heart of the Yankees order from coming to the plate to earn his 13th save of the season. It was the second strong appearance in a row for Bednar, who boasts a quality 2.47 ERA and 1.00 WHIP . The Pirates' poor record will limit Bednar's save totals but the 27-year-old right-hander is the man who manager Derek Shelton will turn to whenever save opportunities arise.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Throws off mound
Manager Dave Roberts said Treinen (shoulder) threw 30 pitches off a mound Monday and looked "pretty dang good," Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Roberts said in late June the veteran right-hander was weeks away from resuming mound work, but the reliever apparently made significant progress over the past 10 days. Treinen still needs significant time to build up his arm to game readiness, so he may not be back until August.

Andre Pallante SP | STL
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Surrenders seven runs in loss
Pallante (3-3) took the loss during Tuesday's 7-1 loss to Atlanta, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and zero walks in 3.2 innings.
Pallante had his first rough outing as a starter, permitting five runs in the first and another two in the fourth before pulled. The 23-year-old tossed 66 of 96 pitches for strikes, with eight of the swinging variety and a healthy five strikeouts -- tying his season high. In six starts, Pallante has posted a 4.26 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 31.2 innings. He tentatively lines up to start again this weekend against Philadelphia.

Craig Kimbrel RP | TB
Dodgers' Craig Kimbrel: Undergoing CT scan
Kimbrel (back) is undergoing a CT scan Tuesday and depending on the results could be placed on the injured list, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
The veteran right-hander had X-rays come back negative after being struck in the back by a line drive Sunday, but it's not yet clear whether he'll require a stint on the injured list. Blake Treinen (shoulder) and Daniel Hudson (knee) are on the injured list, which should leave Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol and Yency Almonte to compete for save chances should Kimbrel be forced to miss any time.

Mitch White RP | MIL
Dodgers' Mitch White: Still looks to be part of rotation
White was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday against the Rockies, but he still appears likely to remain in the rotation this week, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
Ryan Pepiot was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to pick up the start Tuesday, but his addition doesn't appear to be the result of an injury or role change to any of the other five members of the rotation. Stephen notes that Tuesday marks the 15th game in a stretch of 20 contests in as many days for the Dodgers, so manager Dave Roberts may simply be looking to extend White and the other four members of the rotation an extra day of rest amid the busy schedule. Assuming that's the case, White should still be on track to pick up a home start against the Rockies in Wednesday's series finale.

Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW
Diamondbacks' Tyler Gilbert: Called up for Tuesday's start
Gilbert was recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Tuesday versus the Giants.
The Diamondbacks are in need of an extra starter with Zach Davies (shoulder) on the injured list, and Gilbert will receive the call to start Tuesday. The left-hander has struggled through four big-league outings this year with a 7.88 ERA across 16 innings, but a strong showing against San Francisco could earn him another turn through the rotation.

Kirby Yates RP | LAA
Braves' Kirby Yates: Remains at spring complex
Yates (elbow) continues throwing at Atlanta's spring training complex, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
It has been nearly two months since Yates resumed throwing, but Atlanta is not in any hurry to rush him back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in March of 2021. The expectation remains that he will be ready to rejoin Atlanta at some point in August.
