Jeff Brigham RP | CHC
Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Sent down by Marlins
Brigham was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville following the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Miami, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Brigham struck out three in two scoreless relief innings during Saturday's matinee. However, he'll head to the minors after Tommy Nance (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list to serve as the opener during Saturday's nightcap.

Tommy Nance RP | TOR
Marlins' Tommy Nance: Reinstated prior to nightcap
Nance (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list prior to the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Nance was on the injured list since July 24, but he began a rehab assignment in early August. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three in three innings over two appearances in the minors and has now been cleared to rejoin the major-league club. He'll begin Saturday's nightcap on the mound but will likely serve as an opener since he hasn't pitched more than 2.1 innings in any outing this season.

Drew Smith RP | WAS
Mets' Drew Smith: Slated to throw Sunday
Smith (lat) will resume throwing Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Smith has been on the injured list for over two weeks, but he's been cleared to begin a throwing program. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action, but he seems to be trending in the right direction.

Justin Lawrence RP | MIN
Rockies' Justin Lawrence: Recalled by Rockies
Lawrence was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.
Lawrence has been in the minors since the end of July, but he'll rejoin the Rockies' bullpen after Alex Colome (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Over 16 appearances in the majors this year, Lawrence has posted a 5.60 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 17.2 innings.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rockies' Alex Colome: Placed on injured list
Colome was placed on the 15-day injured list with right lateral epicondylitis Saturday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.
Colome hasn't been very effective recently, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks while failing to record a strikeout in 1.2 innings over his last three appearances. It's possible that his forearm injury contributed to his struggles, and he'll be forced to miss at least two weeks due to the injury. A timetable for his return isn't yet clear, but Justin Lawrence was called up to take his place in the bullpen.

Brusdar Graterol RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Begins rehab with scoreless frame
Graterol (shoulder) issued one walk and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
Graterol's first game action in just over a month went well, as he faced the minimum on 14 pitches. He walked the first batter he saw before inducing a double play and finishing the frame with a strikeout. Graterol will likely need a few more rehab appearances before returning to the big club.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Begins rehab with scoreless inning
Treinen (shoulder) struck out one batter in a perfect inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
This was Treinen's first game action since April 14, and he needed just nine pitches to make it through an easy inning. According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the right-hander was at 95-96 mph on the radar gun. Treinen will likely need to make at least a few more rehab appearances before returning to the Dodgers.

Jay Jackson RP | MIN
Braves' Jay Jackson: Sent back down
Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Jackson was called up by Atlanta on Thursday, but he didn't make his season debut during his brief stint in the majors. He'll head back to the minors as part of a move to make room for a pair of starting pitchers for Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

Mark Melancon RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Mark Melancon: Making slight changes
Melancon tweaked his delivery since Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo added other relievers to the closer mix, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. "I've been always trying to tweak things to be better," Melancon said.
Melancon said the changes are barely perceptible to the naked eye and involve tightening his torso and creating more tension throughout his body to hone his command. "I'm creating more down angle, or cut, on the ball," Melancon said. "And just less stress on the shoulder, creating more tension throughout." The changes, however small, have worked for the right-hander. In the three outings since the role change, Melancon has allowed one hit and three walks with three strikeouts over three scoreless innings, which includes two saves.

Bryse Wilson RP | PHI
Pirates' Bryse Wilson: Stuck with seventh loss
Wilson (2-7) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one in 5.1 innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Giants.
Wilson couldn't build off Sunday's strong outing versus the Orioles. Mike Yastrzemski did most of the damage against Wilson, knocking in three of the four runs on his line. The 24-year-old right-hander continues to struggle with consistency, though he's been generally better since the start of July. He has a 5.93 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB through 71.1 innings across 16 appearances (13 starts) this year. Wilson is projected for a home start versus the Red Sox next week.
