  • Cole Sulser RP | TB

Marlins' Cole Sulser: Comes off IL

The Marlins reinstated Sulser (lat) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Fellow reliever Parker Bugg was designated for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Sulser, who has been on the shelf since June 15 with a right lat strain. After producing a 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP to go with six holds and two saves in 26 appearances for Miami prior to landing on the IL, Sulser will likely settle into a setup or middle-relief role now that he's healthy again.

  • Caleb Kilian RP | SF

Cubs' Caleb Kilian: Mixed results back in Triple-A

Kilian has put up a 4.72 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 48:19 K:BB across 34.1 innings (eight starts) since returning to Triple-A.

That's not exactly the stat line you want to see from your most advanced pitching prospect after his first taste of the majors, but Kilian has never been a super-high-upside arm. The 25-year-old's season-long WHIP in Triple-A is a poor 1.40, and while Kilian has shown notable strikeout ability, he hasn't pitched deep into games very often and is walking far too many batters. The Cubs are still treating him as a potential starter in the long run, but there's relief risk here.

  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Braves' Freddy Tarnok: Gets call-up to majors

Atlanta recalled Tarnok from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Tarnok becomes the third pitching prospect to join Atlanta within the past few days, after Kyle Muller and Bryce Elder were previously called up and then optioned back to Gwinnett following spot starts against the Marlins over the weekend. Atlanta hasn't immediately announced its plans for Tarnok, but if he isn't needed out of the bullpen Tuesday or Wednesday, he could be called upon to make a spot start Thursday against the Mets or Friday against the Astros if neither Max Fried (concussion) nor Kyle Wright (arm) is ready to make his next turn through the rotation. Between stops at Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi this season, the 23-year-old Tarnok has produced a 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 101 strikeouts over 89.1 innings.

  • Carl Edwards RP | NYM

Nationals' Carl Edwards: Nabs win against former club

Edwards (4-3) earned the win in Monday's 5-4 victory over the Cubs, striking out two in a perfect eighth inning.

With the score tied 4-4, Edwards came in to face the team he made his big-debut with back in 2015 and had little difficulty with the bottom of the Cubs' order. The 30-year-old has moved into a high-leverage role with the Nationals, picking up two saves and a win in his last four appearances, and since the All-Star break he's posted a somewhat lucky 3.24 ERA to go with a 1.92 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB over 8.1 innings.

  • Kyle Finnegan RP | DET

Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Collects fifth save

Finnegan recorded his fifth save of the season in Monday's 5-4 victory over the Cubs, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

The right-hander breezed through the Cubs' 9-1-2 hitters on just nine pitches (seven strikes). Finnegan has two wins, four saves and a hold in eight appearances since the All-Star break, posting a 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over his last 10 innings despite a poor 4:2 K:BB. While he's not dominant, he does appear to be the Nationals' top high-leverage option.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Picks up save

Scott allowed one hit and a walk in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Padres on Monday.

One day after being tagged with three runs in a loss, Scott was thrust right back into a save situation Monday. He found himself in a two-out jam but escaped with his 17th save of the year. Over his last four outings, Scott has given up seven hits and five walks across just 4.1 frames but he's converted three out of those four save chances.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Collects ninth save

Dominguez picked up the save after striking out one in a scoreless inning Monday against the Reds.

Dominguez entered the contest with a one-run lead and only needed eight total pitches to slam the door. The right-hander continued his scoreless inning streak, as he's now appeared in 11 straight contests without surrendering a run (10.1 frames). Dominguez has fanned 12 and walked five over that stretch.

  • Padres' Steven Wilson: Back with big club

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Wilson was optioned to El Paso earlier this month, but he will rejoin the big club and take the place of Tanner Scott (finger), who landed on the injured list in the corresponding move.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Padres' Tayler Scott: Placed on injured list

Scott was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday retroactive to Aug. 13 with a right third finger laceration.

The extent of Scott's injury is unclear, but he will miss at least a couple weeks of action. Steven Wilson was added to the Padres' bullpen in the corresponding move.

  • Andrew Vasquez RP | DET

Phillies' Andrew Vasquez: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

Vasquez was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Monday.

Vasquez was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Aug. 2 after he was DFA'd by the Blue Jays, but he will now either remain with Lehigh Valley, get claimed by another team or get released outright. Although he's struggled in limited major-league action this year, the left-hander has produced a 2.40 ERA over 15 innings in 14 appearances at Triple-A this season.
