Padres' Steven Wilson: Returns from injured list
Wilson (pectoral) was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Wilson has been on the shelf since late June with a right pectoral strain but is ready to rejoin the Padres' bullpen after throwing to hitters a couple times without issue. It's a boost to San Diego's relief corps, as Wilson boasts a 2.43 ERA with 40 strikeouts over 37 frames in 2023.

Seranthony Dominguez RP | CHW
Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Throws to hitters
Dominguez (oblique) faced live hitters during a throwing session Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
It's the first time he's faced hitters since he went down with a left oblique strain in mid-June. Dominguez would appear to be close to rejoining the Phillies' bullpen, although the team has yet to indicate whether he will require a rehab assignment.

Ryan Weathers SP | NYY
Padres' Ryan Weathers: Lining up for Saturday start
Weathers is expected to be called up from Triple-A El Paso to start one game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Phillies, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
The Padres are likely to designate Weathers as their 27th man for the twin bill, so he's expected to return to El Paso immediately following the spot start. The lefty has made 11 appearances and nine starts in the majors this season, turning in a subpar 6.08 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. He last pitched July 6 with El Paso and worked six innings that day, so he should be plenty stretched out.

Konnor Pilkington RP | DET
Diamondbacks' Konnor Pilkington: Outrighted to Triple-A
Pilkington was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, per the MLB transaction log.
Pilkington was designated for assignment Friday and will head back to the minors. He's thrown only two innings in the majors this season and has a 9.53 ERA with a 2.22 WHIP across 39.2 frames with Reno for the campaign.

Lucas Luetge RP | BOS
Braves' Lucas Luetge: Selected to majors
Atlanta selected Luetge's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Luetge was sent outright to Triple-A in early June and has since put up a 3.72 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 9.2 frames. The 36-year-old lefty hasn't done well in the majors this season, but his positive results in the minors and an injury to Nick Anderson (shoulder) will get him another shot to serve as a depth piece in Atlanta's bullpen. Roddery Munoz was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Nick Anderson RP | ATH
Braves' Nick Anderson: Lands on 60-day IL
Atlanta placed Anderson on the 60-day injured list Thursday with a right shoulder strain.
Anderson had been enjoying a solid 2023 campaign, posting a 3.06 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 35.1 innings while collecting 15 holds during the first half of the season. While the right-hander will be forced to sit out through at least the first week of September, his absence will likely create more high-leverage opportunities for Joe Jimenez and Kirby Yates. Dalton Guthrie was claimed off waivers from San Francisco on Thursday to fill Anderson's spot on the 40-man roster.

Luke Jackson RP | SEA
Giants' Luke Jackson: Set for rehab assignment
Jackson (back) will begin a rehab assignment with the Giants' Arizona Complex League affiliate Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Jackson should need only one or two rehab appearances before rejoining the Giants' bullpen. He's been out since late June with a lower-back strain. Jackson holds a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings with the big club this season.

Dylan Lee RP | ATL
Braves' Dylan Lee: Not ready for rehab games yet
Lee (shoulder) still isn't ready to begin a rehab assignment, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Lee has been sidelined for nearly two months because of inflammation in his left shoulder but hasn't been cleared for game action yet. Atlanta says the reliever has not encountered any setbacks, though, as they are just proceeding cautiously with him. Lee remains on track to return sometime in August.

Carlos Vargas RP | SEA
Diamondbacks' Carlos Vargas: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Vargas to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Vargas was brought up from Triple-A after Tyler Gilbert was placed on the paternity list, and he'll now return to the minors due to Gilbert's return Wednesday. Vargas was sent to the minors in April after beginning the season with three earned runs across 4.2 frames, and he's recorded an 8.74 ERA and 2.61 WHIP across 22.2 Triple-A frames since then.

Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW
Diamondbacks' Tyler Gilbert: Back from paternity leave
The Diamondbacks reinstated Gilbert from the paternity list Wednesday.
Gilbert made one three-inning appearance with the D-backs before leaving to spend time with his growing family. He allowed one run across three innings while striking out two batters, and he could possibly be a candidate for the fifth spot in Arizona's rotation to begin the second half. Carlos Vargas was optioned to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.
