Romano (1-0) earned the win Monday, walking one and striking out one over two scoreless innings of relief against the Orioles.

Romano entered a tie game in the ninth, needing just nine pitches to complete the frame, then unofficially saved his own victory after the Blue Jays plated a run in the top of the 10th. It was the 10th appearance of the season for the Toronto closer, who had converted on all six of his save opportunities prior to earning his first victory Monday.

Taylor (elbow) struck out seven and allowed three earned runs on three hits and one walk over 3.1 innings in his season debut Friday for the White Sox's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

A 2023 second-round draft pick out of LSU, Taylor didn't make his professional debut last summer while he completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which cost him his entire final season of college. Set to turn 22 years old later this month, Taylor likely won't stick around in rookie ball for long and will likely report to Single-A Kannapolis or High-A Winston-Salem once he gets stretched out a bit more.

The Guardians recalled Strzelecki from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Strzelecki will give the Guardians another relief option while Sam Hentges is on paternity leave. He has made three scoreless appearances out of the bullpen for the big club this season.

Hentges will likely miss the entire three-game set against the Rangers before rejoining the club this weekend for its series versus the Twins. Peter Strzelecki was recalled from Triple-A Columbus and will assume Hentges' spot in Cleveland's bullpen.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Leone (back) will begin throwing live batting practice sessions soon, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Leone isn't expected to require a rehab assignment before being activated from the 15-day injured list, which should come early next week when he's first eligible.

The Tigers recalled Brieske from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Brieske has spent all of 2024 at Toledo, holding a 2.95 ERA and 22:11 K:BB over 21.2 frames. The right-hander has been used exclusively in relief for the first time this season but has gone multiple innings in eight of his 13 appearances, so he could offer some length to Detroit's bullpen.

The Tigers placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Monday with right ulnar nerve inflammation.

It's unclear how long the elbow issue might have been bothering Miller, but it could help explain his struggles lately -- he's allowing five earned runs over his last three innings. Miller will be eligible to return from the IL later this month.

The Athletics recalled Lucas from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Lucas has allowed three runs over 2.1 relief innings during his brief time in the majors this season. He's been much more effective this season at Las Vegas, holding a 2.87 ERA and 13:8 K:BB in 15.2 innings. Lucas will provide a left-handed relief option for the Athletics.

The Orioles claimed Martin off waivers from the Brewers on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Martin missed the 2023 season following lat surgery, and all nine of his 2024 appearances have come at the Triple-A level, where he's posted a 7.20 ERA and 10:13 K:BB over 10 frames. The 28-year-old has previously worked mostly as a starter but has been used exclusively in relief this season.

Mata (hamstring) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday and struck out two over two innings while allowing one run on three hits and no walks.

The 25-year-old Mata has yet to make his big-league debut, but because he has no minor-league options remaining, he'll eventually join the Red Sox once he completes what will likely be a lengthy rehab assignment across multiple affiliates. Mata, who is working his way back from a right hamstring strain, has worked almost exclusively as a starter during his time in the minors, but he'll presumably be in store for a low-leverage, multi-inning role out of the Red Sox bullpen upon his return from the 15-day injured list.
