  • Rays' Danny Farquhar: Sent back to minors

Farquhar was sent back to Triple-A Durham after Saturday's game, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Farquhar was called up as the 26th man for Saturday's doubleheader.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

Athletics' Sean Manaea: To come off DL on Wednesday

Manaea (arm) is slated to come off the DL to start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Manaea will spend only the minimum 15 days on the disabled last while nursing a strained muscle in his left forearm. The southpaw made a rehab start at High-A Stockton on Friday, so he'll enter Wednesday's start on a regular four days of rest.

  • Rays' Danny Farquhar: Recalled as 26th man Saturday

Farquhar has been recalled to serve as the Rays' 26th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

The Rays will add Farquhar to the 40-man roster and recall the right-hander to provide additional bullpen help Saturday. There's a chance Farquhar, who has been at Triple-A Durham since mid-May, could remain with the team beyond Saturday, but it's likely he'll return to Durham following the two-game set.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Mows down the side for 14th save Friday

Chapman notched his 14th save in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Twins, striking out the side in the ninth inning.

The hard-throwing closer needed only 11 pitches to mow down Eduardo Escobar, Byung-ho Park and Kurt Suzuki in the final frame, snuffing out any hopes of a comeback. Chapman has converted five straight save opportunities after blowing one for the first time all season on June 5, and he lowered his ERA back under 3.00 (2.84) with Friday's effort.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

Rays' Matt Moore: Mixed performance in Friday loss

Moore (3-5) struck out six and surrendered seven hits, five earned runs and a walk over 6.2 innings in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Orioles.

Moore's performance was a mixed bag, with the five earned runs surrendered a black mark, but the 18 swinging strikes induced a big positive. He gave up a solo shot to Adam Jones in the fourth, and otherwise was done in by lesser hits. In the 'What Else Is New" category, he also suffered from a general lack of run support by the Rays' offense. It was a step back overall for the 27-year-old southpaw, who'd delivered back-to-back quality starts prior to Friday's outing. He'll try to turn things around versus the Red Sox next Wednesday afternoon.

  • Matt Barnes RP | WAS

Red Sox's Matt Barnes: Multiple innings in Friday's win

Barnes allowed one run on four hits while striking out four over 2.2 innings in Friday night's win over the Rangers.

The Red Sox had many heroes in overcoming the 6-0 hole that starter David Price put them in, but a comeback would not have been possible if not for the work of their beleaguered bullpen. And that started with Barnes, keeping them in the game from the third to fifth inning. He's primarily a middle-inning guy who can give Boston length when needed -- he's tossed 6.2 innings his last three appearances -- and can dial up the fastball. If he limits the homers and can locate more consistently, Barnes will make a living in this role.

  • Rangers' Nick Martinez: Allows four runs Friday

Martinez allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over six innings, but received no decision Friday against the Red Sox.

Martinez was spotted to a six-run lead in the third inning, and despite failing to post a quality start, he was in line for the win until the bullpen fell apart in the ninth inning. He's now appeared twice as a reliever and twice as a starter this year, and his ERA is at 5.54. He'll make his next start Wednesday at the Yankees.

  • White Sox's David Robertson: Struggles while converting 19th save Friday

Robertson allowed no runs on two hits and a walk over one inning to earn his 19th save of the year Friday against the Blue Jays.

Robertson was protecting a one-run lead, and loaded the bases with one out before getting a strikeout and a pop out to secure the victory. Despite converting all six of his save opportunities this month, he's walked 10 batters in 11.1 innings to raise his WHIP to 1.45 on the year.

  • Tony Zych RP | NYY

Mariners' Tony Zych: Transferred to 60-day DL

Zych (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Friday.

This was merely procedural as Zych has missed close to two months already and recently suffered a setback with his shoulder. Wade LeBlanc, Friday's starter against the Cardinals, was called up in a corresponding move.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Twins' Trevor May: Slated for rehab appearance

May (back) will make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Upon completion of another successful bullpen session Friday, May received the green light to join a minor league affiliate. It's not entirely clear how long he will remain with Rochester, but May pitched his way out of the setup job before hitting the DL and manager Paul Molitor may need some convincing to return May to a high-leverage role.
