Tigers' Michael Fulmer: To start during weekend series against Rays

Fulmer will pitch during next weekend's series against Tampa Bay, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The young righty exited his most recent start Thursday with dizziness brought on by dehydration, but he'll be back in the rotation next weekend with a bit of added rest working in his favor. The Tigers have not specified which of the four games against the Rays that Fulmer will start, but Sunday's game on July 3 looks to be the likely date.

  • Rays' Andrew Bellatti: Designated for assignment

Bellatti was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday to make room for recently acquired Oswaldo Arcia, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 24-year-old righty pitched fairly well for the Rays' big-league club in 2015, posting a 2.31 ERA in 23.1 innings. However, after failing to make the Opening Day roster in 2016, Bellatti has struggled to sustain that success in Triple-A, making him the odd man out on the 40-man roster with the Rays' recent trade for Oswaldo Arcia.

  • Miguel Almonte RP | LAA

Royals' Miguel Almonte: Lasts only four innings Thursday

Almonte threw four innings of three-run ball while surrendering four hits and four walks en route to a loss in his most recent start for Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Thursday marked Almonte's third consecutive start where he was removed before the fifth inning, raising his ERA to 5.04 on the season. He also has thrown fewer than 90 pitches in five consecutive starts. Given his current performance, it seems unlikely Almonte will get a crack at the major league level this season.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Beats Angels with 6.2 effective frames

Graveman (3-6) stifled the Angels for the second straight start Thursday, allowing just two runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings.

He struck out just a single batter -- the third time Graveman's done that this ear -- but was nonetheless effective again. A week prior, he'd held the Angels to a single run over seven frames, so Graveman may not have many friends in Anaheim right now. Nonetheless, his high-contact ways make the 25-year-old righty a hard risk to justify in most fantasy formats.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Take no-decision in first start of 2016

Making his first start of the season, Norris pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five. He did not factor in the decision.

Norris was bounced after yielding three home runs, two of which came in his final frame. The left-hander was in line for the win when he exited, but his one-run lead was quickly evaporated and the game went into extras. Norris worked ahead of hitters for most of the day and threw 52 of his 79 pitches for strikes. Overall, it was a solid outing from the 23-year-old who is expected to get a chance to earn a spot in the rotation.

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Called up by Tigers

Norris was called up by the Tigers to start Thursday's game against Seattle.

After beginning the season on the disabled list due to non-displaced fractures in his spinous process, Norris scuffed in April and May, working mostly at Triple-A Toledo. Replacing fellow left-hander Matt Boyd in the rotation, Norris has an opportunity to stick as a starter for the Tigers if he can sustain the momentum he's built up with the MudHens in June (3.33 ERA, 25:9 K:BB in four starts).

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Was dehydrated Wednesday, will be fine

The dizziness that knocked Fulmer out of Wednesday's game is being attributed to dehydration, and he should not miss any further time as a result, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.

He was one of the first players in the clubhouse Thursday morning, so the issue seems to have passed. Of course, the bigger news is that the Tigers are skipping his next start in an effort to manage his innings, so he won't pitch again until next weekend (likely Sunday, July 3) at the earliest.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Has rough outing in tune-up for start

Andriese gave up three hits and two earned runs over 1.2 innings in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Indians. He also struck out a batter.

The 26-year-old had a rocky 36-pitch tune-up for his upcoming Saturday spot start versus the Orioles, his first poor performance since being moved to the bullpen. Andriese gave up an RBI single to Carlos Santana that plated Tyler Naquin, and then saw Santana come home courtesy of a Francisco Lindor sacrifice fly. The right-hander had fired 3.2 scoreless frames over a pair of relief appearances prior to Wednesday.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Dizziness shortens outing

Fulmer's outing was shortened Thursday due to some dizziness, knocking him out after just 4.1 innings, ESPN reports. "I was kind of fighting a bit of lightheadedness, dizziness. Just didn't feel well after that first inning," said Fulmer.

Fulmer reportedly believes the issue won't shouldn't be a concern for the future, and hopes everything will be back to normal Thursday. There's nothing at this point to suggest that won't be the case, but it's worth monitoring the situation to ensure nothing more comes of it.

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Loses control in fifth inning Wednesday

Fulmer pitched just 4.1 innings against Seattle on Wednesday, giving up one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

He threw just 74 pitches and left with a decent-looking line on paper, which usually makes fantasy owners rush to check for an injury. That's not the case here; rather, Fulmer had cruised through the first four innings, but unraveled in the fifth -- he issued a a leadoff walk, got his only out of the inning on a fielder's choice, then proceeded to give up a single and hit two batters in a row before being yanked. The kid's been great overall, though, so he's earned the right to have a tough one. The early hook also preserved his streak -- seven straight starts allowing one or zero runs. Fulmer's next draw will be the Marlins on Tuesday.
