Nick Rumbelow RP | SEA
Mariners' Nick Rumbelow: Recalled from minors
Rumbelow was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Rumbelow will shuttle back to the big-league level in order to give Seattle a fresh bullpen arm ahead of Wednesday's series finale versus the Astros. Across eight appearances this year, he's logged an unsightly 7.84 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 10.1 innings of relief. He will be utilized in low-leverage spots while with the Mariners. In a corresponding move, Ross Detwiler was designated for assignment.

Daniel Norris RP | CLE
Tigers' Daniel Norris: Shifts rehab to Florida State League
Norris (groin) made his third rehab appearance Tuesday at High-A Lakeland, tossing three innings and giving up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four.
Norris tossed 65 pitches in the outing, an indication he could be preparing for a return to the Tigers in a starting role. The lefty broke camp as a member of the rotation, but quickly moved to the bullpen after surrendering his rotation spot to Mike Fiers. The Tigers have since traded Fiers and have multiple starting pitchers residing on the disabled list, so it makes sense for Detroit to have Norris build up his pitch count so he can offer the team another rotation option in September. Norris, who has been on the shelf since late April after requiring groin surgery, will likely require at least one or two more rehab starts before rejoining the big club.

Ryne Stanek RP | STL
Rays' Ryne Stanek: Serving as Wednesday's opener
Stanek will serve as the opener for Wednesday's "bullpen day" game, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The right-hander will likely work his usual 1-to-2 innings before giving way to Yonny Chirinos. Stanek continues to shuttle between an opener and a traditional reliever role and has generated a 4.15 ERA and three holds over eight August appearances.

Dylan Covey RP | ATL
White Sox's Dylan Covey: Removed from rotation
Covey is moving to the bullpen, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The White Sox set their rotation for the next four days and Covey is not on the list of projected starters. As anticipated, Covey is being replaced by top prospect Michael Kopech, who made his major-league debut Tuesday. Covey will likely pitch in long relief and be a spot starter if needed.

Joe Palumbo RP | TEX
Rangers' Joe Palumbo: Promoted to Frisco
Palumbo has been promoted to Double-A Frisco, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Palumbo had been one of the organization's top pitching prospects prior to undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery in early 2017. The left-hander posted a 2.67 ERA and 11.3 K/9 in six starts at High-A Down East.

Ariel Jurado RP | TEX
Rangers' Ariel Jurado: Allows four in loss
Jurado (2-3) got the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out one over 5.2 innings against the Athletics.
Jurado got through 4.2 innings with just one run allowed, but he yielded another on a couple of hits and a walk in the fifth before giving up two more in the sixth. The rookie has allowed at least four runs in three straight starts with an even 5:5 K:BB in 16.2 innings in that span, bringing his ERA to an unsightly 6.40. He lines up to take on the Dodgers at home Wednesday in his next outing.

Taylor Rogers RP | MIN
Twins' Taylor Rogers: Earns second save
Rogers struck out two in a clean ninth inning to pick up the save against the White Sox on Tuesday.
Rogers came into the ninth with a three-run lead and got two swinging strikeouts and a groundout to record his second save on the year. Rogers got the save opportunity over Trevor Hildenberger on Aug. 17 and got it once again Tuesday. Hildenberger would still appear to be the favorite option, but it seems Rogers may continue to see some chances depending on the matchups and workloads. The lefty sports a 3.44 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in 57 appearances this season.
-
Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS
Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Records first save of season
Kahnle struck out one in a perfect inning of work to earn his first save of the season Tuesday against the Marlins.
With the game in extra innings, Aroldis Chapman (knee) was called upon to protect a one-run lead before leaving with an injury. Kahnle was summoned to close it out and did so with aplomb, retiring the side on 17 pitches. With numerous other options in the bullpen, including the likes of Dellin Betances, David Robertson (shoulder) and Zach Britton, Kahnle seems quite unlikely to see many more save opportunities, even if Chapman misses time.
-
David Robertson RP | PHI
Yankees' David Robertson: Unavailable Tuesday
Robertson was unavailable to pitch in Tuesday's game against the Marlins due to a sore right shoulder, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.
The extra-inning affair may have provided a save chance for Robertson with closer Aroldis Chapman exiting the 12th inning with a knee injury, but Robertson's shoulder has been tender for a few days. The Yankees don't seem overly concerned about the right-hander, which could prove significant if Chapman is forced to miss any time. Robertson's availability for Wednesday's game remains unclear, but Thursday's scheduled off day provides a chance for some additional rest if the team opts to remain cautious.

Brad Hand RP | ATL
Indians' Brad Hand: Picks up save in Boston
Hand struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday in Boston en route to his fifth save with the Indians (29th of the season).
Cody Allen picked up the save while allowing a run Monday, but he threw 28 pitches in that appearance. While Hand also pitched Monday, he only threw nine pitches, and with the lefty-hitting Andrew Benintendi leading off the ninth inning Tuesday, it made sense for the Indians to turn to the fresher southpaw over Allen. It seems clear that Allen and Hand will continue to get save opportunities, at least in the short term. With Hand pitching on back-to-back days, Allen would likely get the ball if a save situation arises Wednesday.
