  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Heading for MRI on knee

Chapman was forced from Tuesday's game against the Marlins with left knee discomfort, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.

It's the same knee and same area as the tendinitis that has bothered Chapman throughout the season, which is now a huge concern for the Yankees. The veteran left-hander will undergo an MRI to help determine the severity of the issue, which last flared up in early July. The specifics remain unclear, but a worrying sign cropped up post-game when Chapman said the pain experienced Tuesday was "more than usual," Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Leaves with apparent injury

Chapman exited Tuesday's game against the Marlins with an apparent injury, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.

Chapman threw six pitches -- and only one strike -- after entering to secure the save during the 12th inning. The specifics of the injury are not yet known.

  • Nate Pearson RP | KC

Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Fires successful bullpen

Pearson (broken ulna) threw a bullpen session Monday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Everything went off without a hitch, and Pearson is expected to throw another side session later in the week before progressing to facing live hitters sometime next week. It's still unclear if the well-regarded prospect will have enough time to return to game action before the end of the season.

  • Cody Sedlock RP | BAL

Orioles' Cody Sedlock: Activated from minor-league DL

Sedlock (shoulder) was activated from the minor-league disabled list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Sedlock is finally back in action with High-A Frederick after spending nearly four months on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Prior to suffering the injury, Sedlock compiled an unsightly 13.50 ERA and 2.68 WHIP across three starts for the Keys. The 2016 first-round pick will look to turn things around now that he's back to full health.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Next step undetermined

Fulmer (oblique) is scheduled to throw 70 pitches Friday, though it hasn't been determined whether he'll do so at a minor-league affiliate or for the Tigers in their game against the White Sox, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Fulmer, who has been sidelined since July 14 with an oblique strain, has already completed a pair of minor-league rehab appearances for High-A Lakeland, striking out 11 in six scoreless innings. While he's not quite ready to handle a starter's workload, Fulmer's strong form in his rehab outings could prompt the club to bring him back from the disabled list over the weekend to take the hill on a restricted pitch count. Due to injuries to Blaine Hardy (elbow) and Artie Lewicki (elbow), the Tigers were forced to hand a starter to Buck Farmer on Sunday in what amounted to a bullpen game.

  • Cionel Perez RP | NYM

Astros' Cionel Perez: Sent to minors

Perez was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Astros wanted to bring in a fresh arm for Tuesday's bullpen game, so Perez will swap places with fellow left-hander Framber Valdez. Perez owns a 3.86 ERA and 7:5 K:BB through seven major-league innings this season. He should be back up in early September.

  • Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY

Rays' Ryan Yarbrough: Notches 11th win

Yarbrough (11-5) picked up the win in relief during the Rays' 1-0 triumph over the Royals on Monday, striking out six over 5.1 scoreless frames. He conceded two hits and one walk in the outing.

Yarbrough replaced opener Hunter Wood midway through the second inning, recording the final out with two runners on base. The Rays plated their lone run in the bottom half of the frame, making Yarbrough the pitcher of record while he and the Tampa Bay bullpen shut down the Kansas City offense for the rest of the night. Yarbrough has kept the opposition off the board in each of his last three appearances while posting a 0.53 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB across 11.1 innings.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Hernandez: Turning it around at Frisco

Hernandez is 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA over his last three starts at Double-A Frisco.

Hernandez dazzled at High-A Down East and earned a promotion after 10 starts, but the transition has been a rocky one. The right-hander was unable to take his impressive numbers (12.1 K/9, 2.7 BB/9) in the High-A Carolina League to the advanced level (7.6 K/9, 5.6 BB/9), but he's found some level of success recently. As a starting pitcher at the upper levels in an organization starving for starters, Hernandez is in position to make a run for the Rangers rotation in 2020, but he'll need to work on his command.

  • Jorge Lopez RP | WAS

Royals' Jorge Lopez: Allows one run in loss to Rays

Lopez allowed one run on five hits and three walks across five innings while taking the loss Monday against the Rays. He struck out three.

Lopez allowed a steady procession of baserunners on the night, but the only run against him came on an infield hit with two runners on in the second inning. He worked up to 95 pitches and was much more effective than he was in his Royals debut, but his 6:5 K:BB over 9.2 innings with his new team isn't exactly a great sign for future success. That said, he should be given the opportunity to figure things out as a starter and is expected to get the ball this weekend against the Indians.

  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Astros' Chris Devenski: Needs two more rehab outings

Devenski (hamstring) will require two more appearances on his rehab assignment, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Devenski began his rehab at Triple-A Fresno, allowing four hits and striking out four during 1.2 innings, and will move to Double-A Corpus Christi this week. At least one of his two appearances with the Hooks will last longer than one inning. Manager A.J. Hinch said the team can evaluate where Devenski's at when the Astros return from their current road trip. Houston returns home after a weekend set against the Angels, setting the reliever's possible return next Monday, although the manager could wait until rosters expand Sept. 1.
