Manaea (4-3) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.2 innings in a loss to the Rockies on Tuesday.

Manaea wasn't bad Tuesday, but he didn't get a lot of support from the Athletics' offense. The loss snapped his personal four-game winning streak. The 28-year-old southpaw has a 4.50 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 48 innings this season. Manaea will look to avoid a losing skid when he faces the Dodgers next Tuesday.

Pressly allowed one hit and struck out one while throwing a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Rangers.

Pressly came in with a three-run lead. He allowed a two-out single, but was never in true danger and tallied his 10th save with relative ease. After a bumpy start in his tenure as the closer, Pressly has turned in a scoreless performance in eight of his last 10 outings. He should get the majority of the saves for the team down the stretch.

Pearson (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Pearson has been sidelined since Aug. 18 with a strained right elbow, but his live batting practice session could be one of his final tests before returning to action. The right-hander is expected to pitch in shorter stints out of the bullpen once he returns, so he shouldn't require much more time.

Taylor (shoulder) played catch Tuesday, but it's unclear whether he'll return during the 2020 season, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Taylor's left shoulder tendinitis wasn't initially believed to be very serious, but manager Ron Roenicke was uncertain whether he'd be able to pitch again this season. The southpaw had mixed results prior to his injury as he posted a 9.82 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 7.1 innings across eight appearances.

Garcia was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Tuesday.

Garcia pitched well in his last appearance, but he had inconsistent results this season as he carried a 7.56 ERA and 2.28 WHIP over 8.1 innings. He'll be removed from the 40-man roster after Demarcus Evans was recalled by Texas in a corresponding move.

Yacabonis was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Tuesday.

Yacabonis was charged with the loss in Monday's contest, and he'll be removed from the 40-man roster after Brandon Brennan (oblique) was reinstated from the 45-day injured list. We'll see if Yacabonis is able to find a spot on another 40-man roster this season.

Loaisiga (undisclosed) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Loaisiga had a minimum stay on the injured list after being sidelined in early September for an undisclosed reason. He'll be available out of the bullpen going forward as the Yankees prepare for a likely playoff run. The right-hander last pitched Sept. 1, and he had a 3.18 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 17 innings prior to his absence.

Mayers credits his success this season to the addition of a cutter to his arsenal, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Per Statcast, Mayers had never thrown a cutter in the majors prior to 2020, but he appears to have picked up the pitch rapidly given that he has thrown it 25.7 percent of the time this season. The right-hander picked up the grip on the cutter from an Instagram picture of a baseball marked by Mariano Rivera and subsequently recognized the fit in his arsenal. "It seemed very simple," Mayers said. "Kind of really fit my mindset, where I just kind of grabbed the ball and let it rip, and it had some cut to it. And so I just kind of tinkered with that, but basically that's how it started." The results so far have been positive -- opposing hitters are batting .174 against Mayers' cutter this season, and he has posted a career-best 2.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 19.1 innings overall.

Flores was optioned to the White Sox's alternate training site Tuesday.

Flores spent nearly two weeks on the big-league roster but made just two appearances, allowing two runs in two innings of relief in his first career big-league opportunities. Jace Fry (back) returned from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Yacabonis (0-1) took the loss during the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the A's, giving up one run on two hits and three walks over 1.1 innings. He struck out one.

Called upon as the opener in the nightcap, Yacabonis threw only 21 of 44 pitches for strikes, and his line would have been a lot worse if Kyle Lewis hadn't robbed Ramon Laureano of a grand slam with a leaping grab over the wall to end the first inning. The 28-year-old right-hander should continue to handle a low-leverage role in the Seattle bullpen, assuming he even remains on the roster.
