Alexander (2-2) allowed four runs across five innings to take the loss Friday against Cleveland. He gave up six hits and struck out four without walking a batter.

Alexander pitched reasonably well, though three of the six hits he allowed went for extra bases, including a home run by Ernie Clement. The lefty has held his own as a starter for the Tigers recently, registering a 3.77 ERA across his last three outings (14.1 innings). He's currently penciled in to make his next start Aug. 20 against the Blue Jays and should remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future with Jose Urena (groin), Matthew Boyd (triceps) and Spencer Turnbull (forearm) all on the injured list.

Barlow walked one batter in a scoreless ninth inning in Friday's win over Oakland. He struck out one and earned the save.

Barlow worked around a one-out walk to secure the 8-6 win and pick up his first big-league save. The 25-year-old righty has been tremendous since debuting in June, allowing just one run through 13.2 innings (0.66 ERA) with an 18:6 K:BB. Barlow tallied seven saves with a 2.57 ERA this season with Triple-A Round Rock this season and he could force his way into more ninth-inning looks down the stretch.

Pivetta (9-5) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight in six innings to earn the win over Baltimore on Friday.

The only run on Pivetta's ledger was a short third-inning homer from Richie Martin. The right-hander was otherwise excellent for the second straight start, although the quality of competition likely played a factor Friday. The 28-year-old has a 4.20 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 139:52 K:BB through 124.1 innings in 23 starts. He's projected to make a road start versus the Yankees next week.

Anderson (elbow) will pitch again Sunday for Triple-A Durham and will require a "fairly lengthy buildup" according to manager Kevin Cash, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He made a couple appearances in the Florida Complex League in late July and made his first appearance at Triple-A on Thursday, logging a clean inning with zero strikeouts. It sounds like Anderson could be ready to be activated in late August.

Herget was designated for assignment Friday.

He gave up two runs in each of his last two appearances out of the big-league bullpen before being optioned to Triple-A last weekend. This moves clears a spot on the 40-man roster for catcher Yohel Pozo, whose contract was selected from Triple-A.

Fulmer recorded the save Thursday against the Orioles after tossing two scoreless innings, allowing two hits.

Fulmer had the daunting task to secure the final six outs of the game but handled it extremely well, closing things out with just 26 pitches (17 strikes) despite allowing two baserunners. The right-hander has tossed seven straight scoreless appearances and has reduced his ERA to 3.40, while it's also worth noting he's yet to allow an earned run since returning from the injured list in late July.

Iglesias pitched in a non-save opportunity in Thursday's win over Toronto, allowed one run on one hit with a pair of strikeouts in 1.1 innings.

Iglesias entered the game with Los Angeles leading 6-2 with two outs in the eighth inning and overpowered Vladimir Guerrero with a strikeout to end the frame. Iglesias gave up a Lourdes Gurriel solo homer in the ninth but otherwise pitched effectively in a non-save situation. The veteran closer owns a 3.04 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 53.1 innings this season while nailing down 25 of 30 save chances.

McHugh (4-0) fired two scoreless innings on one hit while striking out three, earning the win over the Red Sox on Thursday.

McHugh entered the fifth inning in a tie and didn't allow any runs through the end of the sixth frame after the Rays took the lead. He has been nearly perfect this season, allowing just one earned run in 39.1 innings since May 6. The 34-year-old has a 1.41 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with a strong 12.9 K/9 in 44.2 innings this season.

Hendriks (7-2) earned the win after blowing a save Thursday against the Yankees, giving up four runs on three hits and a walk in one inning. He also had three strikeouts.

Hendriks was knocked around by the middle of the New York lineup in the top of the ninth inning, with two-run blasts by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, turning a 7-4 Chicago advantage into an 8-7 deficit. Fortunately for Hendriks, Tim Anderson responded with a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame, securing the right-hander's seventh relief win of the season. The longball has been an issue all year for Hendriks, who has now allowed 10 of them in 49.2 innings, his most since becoming a full-time reliever in 2015. He has blown six of his 32 save opportunities while logging a 3.08 ERA and 0.79 WHIP.

Morgan (1-5) allowed five earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one across four innings to take the loss Thursday against the Athletics.

Morgan retired the side in order in the first inning but ran into trouble thereafter. Though he kept the ball in the yard, The young righty clearly wasn't sharp as he hit two batters in addition to the three free passes he issued. Morgan was coming off consecutive quality starts prior to Thursday's appearance, during which he allowed a combined four earned runs across 13 innings with a 12:2 K:BB. After this poor outing, he has a 6.52 ERA across 48.1 innings on the campaign.
