Martinez was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land to serve as the 27th player for Thursday's game against the Twins, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Wednesday's contest was suspended and resumed ahead of Thursday's game, so the right-hander will provide bullpen depth for the impromptu twin bill. Martinez delivered a scoreless frame in his lone big-league appearance this season and has a 4.15 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings at Sugar Land.

The Angels confirmed Silseth will be promoted from Double-A Rocket City to start Friday's game against the Athletics in Oakland.

Meanwhile, Jhonathan Diaz will be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, so a decision on whether he or Silseth serves as the Angels' sixth starter moving forward will likely be determined by the performances of the two pitchers this weekend. Silseth will be making his MLB debut Friday, skipping the Triple-A level entirely after an excellent start to the campaign at Rocket City. Over five starts spanning 26 innings, Silseth submitted a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB. The Angels will likely wait until Friday to make his call-up from Double-A official.

Taylor (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Taylor has been dealing with a back issue since spring training. He began a rehab assignment in late April but suffered a setback. His exact timeline remains unclear, but he'll now be ineligible to return until early June. The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Jonathan Arauz to return from the COVID-19 injured list.

Heasley was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Heasley made three starts for the Royals last year, and he'll make his first major-league appearance of the 2022 season as the starter Thursday against the Rangers. The 25-year-old made six starts in Omaha to begin the year, posting a 4.44 ERA, 30:4 K:BB and 0.96 WHIP in 26.1 innings. Kris Bubic was sent down to make room for Heasley on the active roster.

The Angels optioned Peguero to Triple-A Salt Lake following Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rays.

Los Angeles is off Thursday and likely won't announce a corresponding addition to the 26-man active roster until Friday, when Chase Silseth could be summoned from Double-A Rocket City to make a spot start in the series opener at Oakland, according to Sam Blum of The Athletic. Peguero was recalled from Triple-A on May 3 and made two appearances over his week-and-a-half-long stint with the big club, working 1.1 innings and giving up three earned runs.

Sands will be recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to serve as the Twins' 27th man for the second of two games against the Astros on Thursday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The Twins and Astros will first resume and finish the game that was suspended in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday before playing a standard nine-inning game later in the day in what will be the series finale. Sands will only be eligible to pitch in the second contest of the day and will provide some length out of the bullpen behind starter Josh Winder. Expect Sands to head back to St. Paul on Friday.

Lakins was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Lakins was called up by Baltimore on Tuesday, and he allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over two innings of relief during Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals. The right-hander has a 9.58 ERA in 10.1 innings over six major-league appearances this year and will head back to the minors after Denyi Reyes' contract was selected Thursday.

Reyes' contract was selected by the Orioles on Thursday.

Reyes has made three starts at Triple-A Norfolk this year and has posted an 8.25 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 12 innings. The right-hander hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will be an additional relief option for the Orioles, particularly during Thursday's bullpen game against the Cardinals.

The Angels could call Silseth up from the minors to start Friday's game in Oakland after he was scratched from his upcoming outing Thursday at Double-A Rocket City, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Silseth has been a big breakout pitcher in the minors this season, logging a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB in 26 innings over five starts at Double-A. He features a good fastball with tail, a curveball and a changeup. Given his dominance in the minors, he could be up for good if he has success right out of the gate.

Akin is expected to be used in an extended relief appearance behind opener Bryan Baker in Thursday's game in St. Louis, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

The Orioles are treating their series finale with the Cardinals as a bullpen day, with Baker likely to work 1-to-2 innings before bowing out of the contest. Akin is the most obvious candidate to eat innings behind Baker, given that the 27-year-old lefty is a former starter who has covered between two and three frames in all eight of his relief appearances on the season. However, since Akin will be pitching on three days' rest, the Orioles likely won't ask him to cover much more than three innings.
