Manager A.J. Hinch said Brieske (forearm) has been pulled off his rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo and won't be activated from the 15-day injured list this week after experiencing symptoms of right biceps tendinitis following his most recent start Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The fact that Brieske's injury is being characterized as tendinitis rather than a strain suggests he isn't dealing with anything too severe, but the Tigers are still likely to take a cautious approach with the rookie pitcher during a non-contending season. He'll presumably be shut down for at least a few days before the Tigers determine if he's fit to resume a throwing program. With Brieske not coming off the IL this week like the Tigers had planned, the team will need to break in a new pitcher into the rotation Friday against the White Sox.

Brieske (forearm) is no longer on track to return from the 15-day injured list Thursday, as Garrett Hill is scheduled to start the Tigers' series finale with the Guardians that day, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Since Brieske completed his second rehab start at Triple-A Toledo last Friday, he should be available to pitch for the Tigers as soon as Wednesday. The Tigers haven't indicated that Brieske has suffered any sort of setback in his recovery from a right forearm injury, but he looks like he'll get some extra rest before he makes his return from the IL. Brieske could still be an option to start any of the Tigers' three games this weekend in Chicago versus the White Sox.

The Rays outrighted Perdomo to Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

After being claimed off waivers from the Brewers on July 19, Perdomo stayed on the Rays' 40-man roster for about two weeks before being designated for assignment. He'll stay in the Tampa Bay organization as a depth reliever at Triple-A after none of baseball's other 29 teams put in a waiver claim for him.

Wells (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with the Orioles' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Wells has been out since late April with a Grade 1 UCL strain of his left elbow, and he was initially given an 8-to-12 week recovery timeline. He's already past the long end of that estimate, and it's likely he'll need a significant number of appearances during his rehab -- potentially at multiple levels of the minors -- before he could be a factor in the Orioles' bullpen again.

Murfee allowed zero runs on zero hits and one walk while striking out one over two innings Monday against the Yankees.

Murfee's solid performance against the Yankees comes as no surprise as he sports a 1.98 ERA in 13.2 innings over his last 11 home appearances; furthermore, the righty has surrendered only one run and zero homers over 13.2 innings in his last 11 outings with a 0.66 WHIP during that span. The 28-year-old has not been prone to give free passes with just two walks in 22.2 innings over his last 20 appearances.

The Mariners are expected to place Borucki on the 15-day injured list Tuesday after he was removed from Monday's 9-4 loss to the Yankees with a left forearm strain, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

He's scheduled to undergo an MRI early Tuesday as the Mariners look to determine the severity of Borucki's forearm strain, but injuries of these sort typically require more than 15 days of recovery time. Since being acquired from the Blue Jays in early June, Borucki has appeared in 21 games out of the Seattle bullpen and has posted a 4.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB in 19 innings while collecting two wins and four holds.

The Royals placed Clarke on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left oblique strain.

Clarke will be eligible to come off the IL on Aug. 23, but given the volatile recovery timelines associated with oblique injuries, he's far from a lock to be ready to rejoin the Royals by then. The 29-year-old right-hander has been a key setup man for the Royals this season, logging 10 holds and two saves while generating a 4.02 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 47 innings over his 44 appearances.

Cuas was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Cuas will return to the big leagues after being sent down Aug. 2. The right-hander has produced a 3.18 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 22.2 innings in 27 appearances with the Royals this year. He'll replace Taylor Clarke (oblique) in the bullpen after Clarke was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

The Royals recalled Heasley from Triple-A Omaha and designated him as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader with the White Sox. He's expected to start the second game of the twin bill, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Meanwhile, right-hander Brady Singer is expected to get the starting nod for the Royals in the early game. After a week-long stint in the minors, Heasley will be joining the Royals to make his 13th start of the season before likely heading back to Omaha. Over 55.2 big-league innings on the campaign, Heasley has produced a 5.82 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.

Bautista gave up a hit and struck out one in 1.1 scoreless innings Monday to record his fifth save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Blue Jays.

The right-hander hasn't yet been officially named Baltimore's closer by manager Brandon Hyde, but Bautista continues to look the part. He's collected saves in two straight appearances -- the only two saves by O's relievers since Jorge Lopez was traded -- and has a 1.74 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and dominant 19:2 K:BB through 10.1 innings since the All-Star break.
