White (shoulder) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

White has resided on the Blue Jays' injured list all season while recovering from shoulder trouble and is now in the midst of his second rehab assignment. When he began the initial rehab assignment April 26, White appeared to be building up for a starting role, as he logged no fewer than 2.1 innings in any of his six outings before his 30-day rehab window closed May 27. He was able to restart the assignment last Thursday but has made 1.1-inning and one-inning appearances for Buffalo thus far, with his usage suggesting that the Blue Jays are now preparing for him to work out of the bullpen once he's activated. White has no minor-league options remaining, so the Blue Jays don't have the luxury of having him stay on a starter's schedule in the minors when he's brought back from the IL.

Smith (1-2) picked up the win over St. Louis on Monday, allowing one walk while striking out one over one scoreless inning.

Smith was ready to enter a save situation, but Grant Anderson was unable to hold a two-run, eighth-inning lead. He earned his first win of the season when Nathaniel Lowe walked off the Cardinals with a single.

Anderson allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over one inning in Monday's 4-3 win over St. Louis.

Anderson, making his third career MLB appearance, entered the eighth inning with Texas ahead, 3-1, but was unable to hold the lead. It was the second consecutive outing in which the rookie reliever was called on to protect an eighth-inning lead. While the Rangers are a juggernaut these days, the team's Achilles' heel has been the bullpen's ability to hold leads in the seventh and eighth innings. Texas manager Bruce Bochy believes Anderson can fill the role, and it's likely he'll be given high-leverage chances going forward. Anderson has allowed five hits and one walk while striking out eight over 4.2 innings.

Ort was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Ort tossed a scoreless inning Monday against the Rays and will now head to the minors to make room for Chris Murphy. Ort owns a 5.87 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 16:7 K:BB over 15.1 frames so far this season.

Mayers (1-1) took the loss Monday against Miami, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and a walk over three innings.

The Marlins jumped all over Mayers after he came on in relief behind opener Carlos Hernandez in the third inning. Mayers surrendered two runs in the third and another four in the fourth, eventually taking his first loss of the season. It was a rough night for the 31-year-old Mayers after he held opponents to one run or fewer in his first three appearances. His ERA shot up to 4.41 after coming into the day with a 1.35 mark.

Alexander will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Alexander will eat up an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. The Tigers have yet to announce who will serve as the primary pitcher, if anyone, though Garrett Hill was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday and could be a candidate for long relief.

Murphy will be recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Murphy will be available out of the bullpen Tuesday, though the team is also considering rolling him out for a start later in the week. If he's not needed in relief Tuesday or Wednesday, he could toe the rubber Thursday against Cleveland, per Cotillo. Expect Boston's pitching plans to firm up later in the week.

Adam picked up the save Monday against the Red Sox, striking out two over a scoreless inning.

Adam improved to 9-for-12 in save chances Monday, striking out a pair while setting the Red Sox down in order in the ninth. The 31-year-old right-hander hasn't allowed a run in his last five appearances (5.1 innings), lowering his ERA to 2.84 with a 1.11 WHIP and 35:10 K:BB through 25.1 innings this season. Adam should remain Tampa's primary ninth-inning option while Pete Fairbanks (hip) is sidelined.

The Rangers optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Hernandez entered the season as a candidate for saves, but he's struggled to a 6.65 ERA over 25 appearances out of the bullpen. He'll look to get back on track in the minors before Texas considers calling him back up.

The Rangers activated Howard (lat) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Howard has been sidelined all season with a right lat strain but has been cleared to return following a two-appearance minor-league rehab assignment in which he struck out seven and walked one over 3.2 hitless innings. Though he's worked primarily as a starter for the Rangers since being acquired from the Phillies in July 2021, his usage in the minors prior to being activated suggests Texas plans on deploying him as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen now that he's healthy again.
