Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Clubs 23rd homer
Pederson went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-0 win against Milwaukee.
Pederson got the scoring started for Arizona in the first inning, blasting a two-run shot to center field. The long ball and RBI were his first since he hit a solo home run against Texas on Sept. 10. Pederson is up to 23 homers and 63 RBI on the season, with all but 40 of his 427 plate appearances coming against right-handed pitching.

Alec Burleson LF | STL
Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Getting rest against lefty
Burleson isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.
Burleson and his .509 OPS against left-handed pitchers will remain in the dugout to begin Saturday's contest while Cleveland sends Matthew Boyd to the hill. Luken Baker will serve as the Cards' designated hitter and bat second.

Andres Chaparro 1B | WAS
Nationals' Andres Chaparro: Idle Saturday
Chaparro is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
Chaparro is 3-for-32 (.094) in his last nine games and will get the day off Saturday to clear his head. Luis Garcia will fill in at DH while Jose Tena plays the keystone.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Out of lineup Saturday
McCutchen is absent from the starting nine Saturday at Cincinnati.
The 37-year-old will give way to Oneil Cruz at DH on Saturday while Billy Cook slides to center field. McCutchen is 9-for-32 (.281) with a pair of home runs over his last nine games.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Stays scorching hot
Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-4 win over the Rockies.
Though he didn't quite match the 6-for-6, three-homer, 10-RBI, two-steal masterpiece that helped him establish the 50-50 club Thursday, Ohtani's performance Friday was another excellent one. Ohtani is not showing any sign of fatigue in the final month of the season -- he now has eight home runs, nine steals and 24 RBI while batting .324 over 18 contests in September. With 52 home runs and 52 steals on his ledger, Ohtani still has time to push for a 55-55 campaign with eight games remaining on the Dodgers' schedule. He's likely to play regularly as long as home-field advantage through the National League playoffs is up for grabs.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Idle versus lefty
O'Hearn isn't in Baltimore's lineup Friday against the Tigers.
With southpaw Tyler Holton set to open Friday's contest for Detroit, the lefty-hitting O'Hearn will take a seat on the bench. While he rests, Coby Mayo will pick up a start at first base and bat seventh.

Masataka Yoshida LF | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Sitting against righty
Yoshida is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.
The Twins are starting a right-hander in David Festa, but the left-handed-hitting Yoshida will nonetheless begin this one on the bench. After an excellent July and August, Yoshida is slashing just .231/.286/.365 so far in September. Tyler O'Neill will be Boston's designated hitter Friday.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Pitching in 2024 'very unlikely'
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Friday on MLB Network that it's "very unlikely" Ohtani (elbow) will pitch during the postseason.
Ohtani has been throwing off a mound and is expected to face hitters soon as he continues his rehab from Tommy John surgery. Manager Dave Roberts said earlier this month that the chances of Ohtani pitching out of the bullpen some during the playoffs are "not zero," but it was always an extreme long shot and Gomes added that it's "not in the plans as of now." On Thursday, Ohtani become the first player in major-league history to reach 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. He'll return to being a two-way player in 2025.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Three hits, homer vs. Twins
Manzardo went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 win over Minnesota.
Manzardo opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot off Simeon Woods Richardson. The 24-year-old Manzardo has swung the bat well since he was recalled on Sep. 1, going 15-for-42 (.357) with four homers in 16 games after batting just .207 with a .571 OPS across 30 contests in his first stint with the Guardians earlier this year.
