Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera exploded offensively Monday, going 4 for 5 with two home runs and three RBI in his team's 12-1 win over the Indians.

Cabrera kicked off the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning and tacked on a solo shot in the eighth. He hadn't homered since Aug. 2 before Monday, and it was his first multi-homer game of the season. Cabrera has hit .304/.367/.501 with 19 home runs and 94 RBI in 513 at-bats.

Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 2 for 5 with a solo home run in his team's 5-4 loss to the Cardinals Monday.

McCutchen put his team up 4-2 with his seventh-inning blast, but the Cardinals were able to cross the plate three times in the bottom of the seven to pull out a win. McCutchen owns a .308/.401/.539 line with 21 home runs, 72 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 458 at-bats.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton went 1 for 4 with a walk and a solo home run in his team's 9-6 win over the Mets Monday.

Stanton delivered the first blow in the high-scoring game in the first inning with his NL-leading 34th home run. He has hit .292/.401/.554 with 99 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 504 at-bats.

Mariners shortstop Brad Miller went 1 for 3 with a solo home run in his team's 6-1 loss to the A's Monday.

Miller followed up a 3-for-3 performance Sunday with his first blast in more than two months, but his playing time could continue to be spotty with rookie Chris Taylor posting a .378 OBP. Miller has hit .207/.281/.345 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 319 at-bats.

The Dodgers recalled outfielder Joc Pederson, second baseman Alex Guererro, catcher Tim Federowicz and pitcher Yimi Garcia Monday with rosters expanding in September.

Pederson closed out his first season with Triple-A Albuquerque by hitting .303/.435/.582 with 33 home runs, 78 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 445 at-bats.

In addition, the team activated pitcher Chris Perez from the disabled list. Perez has been out since Aug. 3 while nursing an ankle injury.

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was held out of the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox due to a sore ankle. Don Kelly started in Cabrera's absence Sunday.

"(Head athletic trainer) Kevin Rand had talked to him to get an idea of how he feels," manager Brad Ausmus said, per MLB.com. "It was based on that discussion. It's day to day. We'll see (Monday)."

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters that he is considering sitting first baseman Miguel Cabrera for a stretch of game to rest his sore ankle, MLB.com reports.

"I've talked to him about that," Ausmus said. "We talked about that in Detroit a couple days ago, so it's a possibility. But this thing comes and goes. Prior to today, the last couple days, he said it felt really good. And then today it flared up again. Although we discussed it, I don't know if four or five days would do anything, because sometimes he comes in from sleeping overnight and feels good."
