Mets trade for LF Yoenis Cespedes from Tigers
The Mets have traded for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the Tigers in exchange for two minor leaguers. The deal was agreed to just prior to the 4pm trade deadline on Friday.
The Mets are sending minor league pitchers Michael Fulmer and Luis Sessa, according to the New York Post.
Cespedes will be an immediate impact in the Mets' offense, which is among the worst in Major League Baseball. He was batting .293 with 18 home runs for the Tigers this season.

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter has monster night at the plate vs. Rockies
Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter had a strong night at the plate on Thursday. Carpenter went 4 for 5 with a double, four RBI and four runs scored in the 9-8 win over the Rockies.
Carpenter also knocked a pair of home runs off starter Chris Rusin, including a three-run shot in the second inning. The two longballs give Carpenter 12 on the season.
Over his last 10 games, Carpenter is now batting .297 with three homers and seven RBI.

Nationals OF Bryce Harper crushes two homers in victory
Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper jumped back into the National League home run lead, blasting two upper-deck shots to give him 29 on the season and Washington a 7-2 win Wednesday.
Harper continued his terrorization of Marlins starter Tom Koehler, hammering a three-run shot into the second deck of Marlins Park in the fifth inning, his fifth home run off Koehler.
Harper added another solo shot in the eighth inning, this one again well over 400 feet. Harper now has 68 RBIs on the season and is hitting .335, third in the NL.

Dodgers' Justin Turner (leg) remains unavailable on Wednesday
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash with the A's. Turner was admitted to the emergency room on Tuesday with a skin infection on his leg.
The Dodgers have not provided a current status update on Turner's condition, but it seems unlikely he would be available for Wednesday's game.
Alex Guerrero, who has been bothered by a stiff back, will make his first start at the hot corner since May 24. He'll bat eighth in the order.

Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen belted a game-tying two-run home run in the fifth inning of Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Twins. McCutchen finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBI, including his 14th longball of the season.
The former National League MVP has homered twice in his last six games for the Pirates.

Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton continues to take baby steps in his recovery from left hamate surgery. He has been cleared to take swings off a tee, per Fox Sports.
Dan Jennings has not ruled out the possibility of Stnaton returning next week when the Marlins close out a nine-game homestand.
"His hand looks good," Jennings said. "It's healed. The scar looks well. Now he's going to start off the tee ... he'll progress at his timetable. It's good to see him making strides the right way."

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner was sent to the hospital Tuesday to deal with an infection on his leg, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Turner had a pimple on his leg, which developed into an infection. He was held out of Tuesday's lineup as a result.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's. Turner was lifted from Sunday's game against the Mets for a pinch runner in the ninth inning. Even with a travel day on Monday, Turner will start Tuesday's game on the bench.
Alberto Callaspo will get the start at the hot corner and bat seventh on Tuesday.
