Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Slugs leadoff homer

Pederson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

Pederson crushed Domingo German's first pitch of the game 420 feet to right field, producing the only Dodgers run in the affair. The 27-year-old has tallied 82 hits this season, with 39 going for extra bases, including 26 long balls. He continues to play almost exclusively against right-handed pitchers while sitting against southpaws, against whom he has hit only .175 (7-for-40) with no home runs this season.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Homers, scores three times

Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored, two RBI and a walk in Sunday's 11-4 win over Colorado.

It was Carpenter's second multi-hit game of the month and he's still hitting just 12-for-51 (.235) with four extra-base hits in August. His current .703 OPS is the lowest of his career, and he could miss the 20-homer mark for the first time since 2014.

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Out versus southpaw

Dickerson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Oakland, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Phillies' Brad Miller: Returns to bench role

Miller is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Miller had started the previous two games at third base but will cede the position to the recently recalled Maikel Franco in the series finale. Bryce Harper is expected to return from the paternity list ahead of Monday's game against the Pirates and should reclaim a spot in the outfield, which will likely result in Scott Kingery taking back over at the hot corner on a full-time basis.

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Scores twice Saturday

Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in Saturday's 10-5 win over the Athletics.

Dickerson has been productive with a .328/.385/.603 line with six homers, 26 RBI and 28 runs scored in 50 games this year between the Giants and Padres.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Remains out of the lineup

Harper was placed on the paternity list Friday and can return either Sunday or Monday. In his absence, Adam Haseley is starting in right field with Brad Miller getting the call at third base.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

    Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Sitting again

Carpenter is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rockies.

Carpenter is not in the lineup for the third consecutive game, with Tommy Edman taking his place at third base. Carpenter is in the midst of a prolonged slump, going just 4-for-29 with one home run and 12 strikeouts in his last 12 appearances.

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Turns in big night at dish

Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored Friday night against the Phillies.

Ramirez knocked home a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning on a single to left field, playing a key part in Miami's comeback win. After going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts over his last two games, he responded with a multi-hit performance. The 24-year-old has put together a .274/.311/.401 slash line over 86 matchups in 2019.
