Schwarber (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Friday's game against the Guardians.

Schwarber missed all three games of this week's series against the Reds while battling a stomach bug, but he's well enough to give it a go in Friday's series opener versus Cleveland. The slugger leads all of baseball with 20 home runs this season.

Herrera went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Pirates.

Herrera got St. Louis on the board in the third inning with a two-out shot off Braxton Ashcraft, giving the catcher/DH his sixth homer of the year and his second in three games. Herrera has swung the bat well of late, going 16-for-51 with an .804 OPS over his last 12 contests. Overall, he's slashing .262/.386/.426 with 24 RBI and 28 runs scored across 223 plate appearances this season.

Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Thursday against the Cardinals.

Ozuna had been out of the lineup for two of the last three games, and he was bumped down to sixth in the order in his return Thursday. He responded by delivering a two-RBI single in the sixth inning, giving the Pirates a three-run lead. Ozuna has gone just 7-for-35 across his last 10 starts, though he has managed five RBI and four runs scored in that span.

Eldridge went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Eldridge hit an RBI double in the second inning to give San Francisco an early 2-1 lead, albeit in a losing effort. The 21-year-old's two-bagger was just his second extra-base hit of the season. Eldridge has logged at least one hit in each of his last two appearances and is now slashing .156/.229/.281 with two RBI, a run scored and a home run across 35 plate appearances on the campaign.

Ohtani (4-2) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Padres on Wednesday. He also went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored on offense.

Ohtani gave himself all the run support he needed by homering off Randy Vasquez's first pitch of the game. On the mound, it wasn't Ohtani's best work, but it was still excellent. He threw 53 of 88 pitches for strikes, though he had to navigate some tricky at-bats that ran the pitch count up early. This was his fourth scoreless outing in eight starts as a pitcher. He's worked to a 0.73 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 54:13 K:BB through 49 innings this season. At the plate, Ohtani has hit safely in seven straight games, going 13-for-27 (.481) with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBI in that span, which suggests he's worked his way out of his slump from earlier in May. He's up to a .272/.399/.486 slash line, eight homers, 26 RBI, 33 runs scored, six stolen bases, 11 doubles and a triple over 214 plate appearances.

Soto went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to Washington.

The All-Star slugger is locked in at the plate, crushing five homers during his current seven-game hitting streak. Soto has nine RBI during that stretch, tallying multiple hits five times over that span as well. Across 148 plate appearances overall, he's slashing a robust .299/.392/.559 with 14 extra-base hits (nine home runs), 20 RBI, four stolen bases and 21 runs scored.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 9-1 win over Miami.

Smith snapped a long homer drought Wednesday, as his last long ball came over a month ago during an April 17 win in Philadelphia. The 30-year-old journeyman has found a home in 2026 as Atlanta's primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching, as injuries have disrupted the team's plan to give most of that playing time to their catching duo of Drake Baldwin (oblique) and Sean Murphy (finger). Through 98 at-bats in 39 games, Smith is hitting a torrid .337 with nine extra-base hits, 22 RBI and 15 runs scored.

Schmitt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss against the Diamondbacks.

Schmitt scored the first run of the game with a solo shot off Merrill Kelly in the first inning for his ninth home run of the season. The 27-year-old utility man remains a lineup regular and has hits in each of his past five games, boosting his batting average to .293 and his OPS to .866. The promotion of Bryce Eldridge in early May seemed likely to threaten Schmitt's playing time, but his continued strong performance at the plate has resulted in him starting 15 of 18 games thus far in May.

Torrens is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

The Mets will give Torrens a breather after he started behind the plate in four of the past five games. Hayden Senger will handle catching duties for the Mets on Wednesday, forming a battery with Zach Thornton in the rookie lefty's MLB debut.

Ozuna is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in St. Louis.

The Cardinals are sending Michael McGreevy to the bump, marking the second time in a row that the right-handed-hitting Ozuna has been absent from the lineup against a righty. Oneil Cruz will get a start at designated hitter for the Pirates, and Jhostynxon Garcia will patrol center field.
