Dodgers' Justin Turner: Tallies three hits Friday

Turner went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs in an extra-inning loss to the Giants on Friday.

The third baseman collected his fifth three-hit effort of the campaign, though it was his first since performing the feat in back-to-back contests April 15 and 16. Turner has fallen into a bit of a funk since those outings, batting only .211 over his subsequent 128 at-bats. He is still posting solid overall numbers on the season, including a .275/.364/.472 slash line, nine homers and 27 RBI.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Diagnosed with Grade 2 strain

Ruf was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain Friday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Ruf was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, and he underwent an MRI that revealed a strain. The injury has a 3-to-4 week recovery timeline, so the 34-year-old should spend more than the minimum amount of time on the shelf. A better idea of his return timetable could come into focus once Ruf is able to resume baseball activities.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Hits injured list as expected

Ozuna (finger) was officially placed on the 10-day injured list Friday.

Ozuna fractured two fingers on his left hand while running the bases Tuesday against the Red Sox. While he won't require surgery, he's expected to miss at least six weeks, meaning he won't be back on the field until shortly before the All-Star break at the earliest. Guillermo Heredia should see time in left field in his absence, with at-bats opening up for Ender Inciarte in center.

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Blasts ninth homer

Turner went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a strikeout in a 4-3 victory over the Giants on Thursday.

Turner homered off Alex Wood in the third inning to plate Mookie Betts and give the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. It was only Turner's third home run of May as he's cooled considerably after a hot start but he remains a consistent option with a .266/.358/.468 slash line on the season.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Placed on injured list

Ruf (hamstring) was placed on the injured list Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Ruf suffered the injury while rounding first base in Wednesday's contest against the Diamondbacks. He'll now be out at least ten days, though the results of a pending MRI will dictate if he can return after the minimum amount of time. LaMonte Wade was recalled in the corresponding move.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Not starting Thursday

Ruf (hamstring) isn't in the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Ruf left Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks with an apparent right hamstring injury and was slated to undergo an MRI on Thursday. While the results of his MRI aren't yet known, Jason Vosler will start at first base and bat eighth.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Takes seat for nightcap

Blackmon isn't starting the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Blackmon will get a breather after he went hitless in three at-bats during the first game of the twin bill. Yonathan Daza will start in right field and bat sixth.

  • Darin Ruf DH | MIL

Giants' Darin Ruf: Slated for MRI

Ruf (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Ruf went 2-for-3 with a pair of base hits before he was removed from Wednesday's 5-4 win with an apparent right hamstring injury. Jason Vosler came on to replace Ruf and supplied a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning to lift the Giants to victory. With all of Brandon Belt (oblique), Wilmer Flores (hamstring) and Tommy La Stella (hamstring) on the injured list, Ruf will likely be in line for steady reps at first base if his own hamstring issue doesn't prove to be too significant. The Giants should have a better idea of Ruf's recovery timeline once the results of the MRI are read.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: On bench Thursday

McCutchen will sit Thursday against the Marlins.

McCutchen will rest for the second time in three days. The veteran outfielder was showing signs of life in early May following a slow start but has since gone on to hit just .151/.294/.321 over his last 15 games. Roman Quinn will lead off and play left field in his absence.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Cubs' Joc Pederson: Sits against lefty

Pederson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

With a southpaw (Tyler Anderson) on the hill for the Pirates, the lefty-hitting Pederson will check out of the starting nine for the series finale. Rafael Ortega will fill in for Pederson in left field.
