Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Cubs' Joc Pederson: Sits against southpaw
Pederson will sit against lefty Julio Urias and the Dodgers on Saturday.
Pederson has made seven starts against southpaws this season, but he's now sat against each of the last three the team has faced. He hasn't done much to suggest he deserves to start against same-sided pitching, as he's hitting .237/.292/.250 against lefties in 48 plate appearances. Kris Bryant will start in left field Saturday, with Patrick Wisdom starting at third.

Cubs' Joc Pederson: Steals base in loss
Pederson went 0-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Dodgers.
Pederson was hitless on the day, but he reached in the fifth inning on a fielder's choice and ended up taking second for his first stolen base of the year. The 29-year-old did also drive in the Cubs' second run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Pederson had a hot month of May but has cooled off some in June, slashing .211/.237/.539 while posting just a 2:23 BB:K over 21 games. He hasn't drawn a walk since June 2 and currently owns a 6.6 percent walk rate, which is on pace to be the lowest of his career.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Placed on injured list
Belt was placed on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Belt was removed from Wednesday's game due to a right knee injury, and he's dealing with inflammation. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but manager Gabe Kapler said that the first baseman could require surgery and will miss more than the minimum of 10 days, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Wilmer Flores and Darin Ruf could see additional time at first base in Belt's absence, while LaMonte Wade was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Alex Dickerson DH | ATL
Giants' Alex Dickerson: Sits against southpaw
Dickerson is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Athletics, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Dickerson will retreat to the bench for the third time since being activated from the injured list earlier this week. He figures to be a strong candidate to start in left field Saturday against right-hander Frankie Montas, however.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Remains out Friday
Belt (knee) is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Athletics, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
It was reported Thursday that Belt was likely headed to the IL with a right knee injury, so his absence from Friday's lineup comes as no surprise. The first baseman is still awaiting MRI results and a move to the injured list could very well come prior to Friday's first pitch. Darin Ruf will start at first Base and bat second against southpaw Sean Manaea during the series opener.

Daniel Vogelbach DH | TOR
Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: Out for six weeks
Vogelbach's hamstring strain is expected to keep him out for approximately six weeks, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The Brewers called Vogelbach's injury "significant" after he left Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, and it's now clear just how significant it is. The given timeline means he won't be back until early August. The Brewers recalled the struggling Keston Hiura to take his place at first base.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Sitting Friday's matinee
McCutchen is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Mets.
The veteran outfielder finds himself on the bench for the second straight game, though he came off the bench and hit a pinch-hit grand slam Wednesday. McCutchen figures to rejoin the lineup in Friday's nightcap.

Brandon Belt DH | TOR
Giants' Brandon Belt: Likely destined for injured list
The Giants are still waiting for MRI results on Belt's right knee, but there's a "really good chance" that he will be placed on the injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The actual severity of Belt's injury remains unknown and should be clarified when the MRI results return. The team remains optimistic that the injury will be short term, though Belt's right knee was surgically repaired in 2018. He will likely be sidelined until at least early July.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Dodgers' Justin Turner: Not starting Thursday
Turner isn't starting Thursday's game against the Cubs, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Turner had recorded hits in each of his last five appearances, and he went 7-for-18 with a double, five RBI, two runs and three walks during that time. Chris Taylor will take over at third base and bat third.

Alex Dickerson DH | ATL
Giants' Alex Dickerson: Three hits in win
Dickerson went 3-for-5 with a double and two strikeouts in Wednesday's 9-3 extra-innings win over the Angels.
The 31-year-old outfielder was productive at the plate in his first start since he was activated from the injured list. Dickerson served as the designated hitter for 12 innings before Wilmer Flores (hamstring) pinch hit for him in the 13th. Dickerson is now slashing .237/.303/.410 with six home runs, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored, a stolen base and four doubles through 152 plate appearances. He is expected to split time with Mike Tauchman in left field going forward, although both of them are left-handed batters.
