  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Could return Friday

Winker (ribs) will play in another rehab game Thursday and could return as soon as Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Winker has been out for just over a month while battling an intercostal strain. He's gone 0-for-5 in a pair of rehab games thus far, but the Reds have started losing ground in a very tight playoff race and may decide that he's their best option even if he hasn't quite found his groove yet.

  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

    Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Feeling better

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Beer (shoulder) felt better Wednesday and was considering taking swings prior to that night's game, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Beer sustained a dislocated shoulder during Tuesday's game, and X-rays came negative for bone chips. He had the shoulder put back into place and is considered day-to-day. Lovullo did not offer any more details regarding the player's availability or if Beer will require a stint on the injured list.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Homers again in loss

Belt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Padres.

Belt's seventh-inning solo shot brought San Francisco to within two runs on the scoreboard, but it was the final tally the Giants were able to muster in the contest. The long ball was Belt's 25th of the campaign, extending his career-best single-season mark. He has gone deep in five of his past eight contests and is slashing .429/.487/.971 with five homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs over that stretch.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Racks up three hits in win

Turner went 3-for-4 and scored twice in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Arizona.

The veteran knocked three singles in the contest and crossed the plate in each of the second and fourth innings. The three-hit performance was his first since July 10 and 10th overall this season. Turner has once again provided a steady bat in the Dodgers' lineup throughout the campaign, slashing .280/.366/.476 with 25 home runs and 81 RBI.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Continuing rehab stint

Dickerson (hamstring) will remain on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento for the near future, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Dickerson is 3-for-13 through four games with Sacramento, and he'll remain there for the immediate future to keep receiving at-bats. The 31-year-old was 2-for-17 in his last seven games before picking up the hamstring injury and has a .235/.303/.426 slash line for the season. The Giants have a plethora of lineup options after Tommy La Stella and Evan Longoria returned from lengthy stays on the injured list, so Dickerson may not be guaranteed an everyday role once activated.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Phillies' Brad Miller: Cedes lineup spot to Realmuto

Miller is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

After J.T. Realmuto sat out Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Cubs with right shoulder inflammation, the Phillies are easing their top backstop back into action by deploying him at first base, leaving no spot available for Miller. Assuming Realmuto's shoulder issue doesn't prevent him from resuming catching duties in short order, Miller should reclaim a near-everyday role at first base before long. He started five of the previous six games and went 3-for-18 with a home run and four walks.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Braves' Joc Pederson: Sits versus righty again

Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

For the second consecutive day, Pederson will take a seat versus a right-handed pitcher (Antonio Senzatela), after he was on the bench in Tuesday's 5-4 loss while righty Jon Gray was on the bump for Colorado. Dating back to the start of August, Pederson is slashing an underwhelming .184/.294/.322, and his ongoing struggles appear to have cost him his strong-side platoon role in the outfield. Eddie Rosario will draw a third consecutive start in left field and looks to have supplanted Pederson on the depth chart.

  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Suffers dislocated shoulder

Beer was diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder after leaving Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Beer is 4-for-10 with a home run, a double, three RBI and four runs since making his major-league debut last week, but the dislocated shoulder may bring an early end to his first taste of the big leagues. The 24-year-old's status should be updated within the next couple days, but he'll likely require a trip to the injured list.

  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Leaves with apparent injury

Beer was removed from Tuesday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent left arm injury, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Beer suffered the injury during the second inning when he landed awkwardly on his left arm when diving for a ball at first base, and he was unable to finish the frame. The 24-year-old exited the contest before making his first plate appearance. He should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Braves' Joc Pederson: Not in lineup Tuesday

Pederson is not starting Tuesday against the Rockies.

Pederson historically gets his days off against left-handers, but Tuesday will mark the third time this month he is idle against a righty starter (Jon Gray). Adam Duvall shifts to center field as Eddie Rosario draws the start in left field Tuesday.
