Nationals' Josh Bell: Belts three-run shot off bench
Bell smacked a three-run home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's 6-3 win over the Cubs.
Bell started Sunday's game on the bench, with Andres Chaparro starting at first base. Bell was brought out for the ninth with two runners on base, and he put the Nationals on top for good with a three-run shot to center field. It was Bell's first homer since Aug. 20 and his 17th home run of the season, which is two shy from his mark in 2024. Bell has a .767 OPS with six home runs and 12 RBI in 148 plate appearances since the All-Star break.

Adrian Del Castillo DH | ARI
Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Idle against right-hander
Del Castillo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Del Castillo had started in each of the Diamondbacks' previous three matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench Sunday against the Red Sox's Brayan Bello. With Del Castillo taking a seat, Ketel Marte will serve as Arizona's designated hitter, which opens up a spot in the infield for Jordan Lawlar.

Josh Bell DH | WAS
Nationals' Josh Bell: Taking seat Sunday
Bell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Bell will get a breather for the series finale after he went 1-for-16 with a double, two walks and one run while starting in each of the previous five contests. Andres Chaparro will replace Bell at first base Sunday and bat fifth.

Christian Yelich DH | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Absence continuing Sunday
Yelich (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Yelich took some swings in the batting cage Saturday with no issues and responded "we'll see" when asked if he'll be available to pinch hit Sunday, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. William Contreras is resting his legs as the designated hitter in the series finale, allowing Danny Jansen to pick up a start behind the plate.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD
Padres' Ryan O'Hearn: Perfect at plate Saturday
O'Hearn went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Rockies.
The double was O'Hearn's first extra-base hit since Aug. 26, and he's now gone 15 contests without a homer. He's 15-for-54 (.278) with five walks in that span, but he's added just one RBI. Christian Yelich DH | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Takes swings Saturday
Yelich (back) swung in a batting cage Saturday and "will see how he feels tomorrow," Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.
A sore back has kept Yelich out of Milwaukee's lineup for each of the Brewers' past four games, but the team hasn't put him on the IL. It thus stands to reason that the veteran slugger could return to action soon if he recovers well from Saturday's session. Jake Bauers has gotten a turn at DH each of the past two days with Yelich on the shelf.

Marcell Ozuna DH | ATL
Braves' Marcell Ozuna: On bench Saturday
Ozuna isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.
Ozuna will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Friday's series opener. Drake Baldwin will work as Atlanta's designated hitter instead with Sean Murphy behind the plate.
