  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Collects five hits in doubleheader

Brantley went 5-for-6 with a home run, three doubles, two runs, two RBI and a walk during Tuesday's doubleheader against Oakland.

Houston combined for only 13 hits between the two games, with Brantley powering the offense with four extra-base knocks. The veteran slugger is 18-for-42 with three homers, six doubles, nine runs and 12 RBI across his past 12 contests.

Twins' Brent Rooker: Launches first career homer

Rooker went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during a 6-4 loss to the Cardinals in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

After sitting on the bench during a 7-3 win by the Twins in the matinee, Rooker took over for Jake Cave in right field during the nightcap and launched his first career homer off Daniel Ponce de Leon in the second inning to briefly give Minnesota a lead. Rooker hasn't look out of place since his promotion, slashing .278/.316/.500 through his first six MLB games with five RBI.

  • Byron Buxton DH | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Not starting Game 2

Buxton isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Buxton went hitless in three at-bats during Tuesday's matinee, and he'll take a seat for the second game. LaMonte Wade will start in center field.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Royals' Jorge Soler: To IL with oblique strain

Soler was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right oblique strain.

While Soler will be eligible to return Sept. 16 at Detroit, the nature of the injury could prevent him from returning before the end of the regular season. The Royals will likely mix and match at designated hitter going forward.

  • Byron Buxton DH | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Belts sixth homer

Buxton went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's 6-2 win over the Tigers.

Buxton followed his sixth-inning double with his sixth homer two frames later. The performance broke a 10-game drought without an extra-base hit for the center fielder, who is hitting .250/.253/.488 through 87 plate appearances on the season.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Royals' Jorge Soler: Remains out Monday

Soler (oblique) will sit for the second straight game Monday against the Twins, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Soler left Saturday's game against the White Sox after battling back and oblique issues earlier in the week. The Royals reportedly aren't considering an injured list stint for Soler at the moment after he showed improvement Sunday, suggesting that he should be back in action soon. Ryan O'Hearn will serve as the designated hitter Monday.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Delivers in pinch-hit capacity

Choi pinch hit for Hunter Renfroe in the 10th inning of Sunday's win against the Marlins and laced a game-tying RBI double in his one at-bat.

Choi's timely two-bagger brought home Joey Wendle to knot the score at 4-4 after Matt Joyce had singled home Lewis Brinson in the top of the 10th to give Miami a temporary one-run lead. Choi opened September in a brief 0-for-7 skid over his first two games, but he's bounced back with a pair of doubles, a walk and Sunday's clutch RBI in his subsequent pair of contests.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Hitting streak reaches 13 games

Cabrera went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday in the Tigers' 10-8 win over the Twins.

With the two base knocks, Cabrera extended his hitting streak to a season-best 13 games. He's slashing .400/.436/.500 over that span, allowing his season-long OPS to climb from .588 to .710. The veteran will serve as the Tigers' designated hitter and will bat third in Monday's series finale in Minnesota.

  • Brent Rooker DH | ATH

Twins' Brent Rooker: Takes advantage of opportunity

Rooker went 1-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored Sunday against the Tigers.

Rooker started the game in the place of Nelson Cruz (hip) and delivered a double in the bottom of the fifth inning that plated two. He's now recorded hits in each of his last three appearances, though they were all singles prior to this performance. If Cruz misses any more time, Rooker is a candidate for increased at-bats given the additional absence of Max Kepler (groin).

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Takes seat for finale

Ohtani is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

The Angels are facing a lefty (Framber Valdez) and just played a doubleheader Saturday, so it seems like a decent time to get Ohtani a rest. Ohtani has mostly struggled at the dish this season with a .192/.297/.367 batting line, and it's fair to wonder if the strained flexor pronator mass is playing a part.
