Campusano went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Giants.

Campusano has logged multiple hits in consecutive games for the second time this season. The backup catcher has maintained a .311/.351/.505 slash line with 15 RBI, 18 runs scored, five home runs and five doubles over 111 plate appearances. While Campusano is hitting well, Gary Sanchez has batted .250 with six homers over 19 games in August. San Diego could begin to give the younger backstop more work once the team resigns itself to missing the playoffs, however.

O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Athletics.

O'Hoppe went yard in the ninth inning for his sixth homer of the year, though it had no bearing on the outcome. The catcher was the only Angel with multiple hits in this game. O'Hoppe is batting just .150 (6-for-40) since he returned Aug. 18 from a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. The top prospect is at a .226/.284/.452 slash line over 102 plate appearances this season.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Contreras recorded a single in the bottom of the second inning before taking Mitch Keller deep for a game-tying solo homer in the bottom of the sixth. The long ball was his 16th of the season and third over the last three games. Contreras has produced a .280 batting average with five homers, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored and a stolen base in 24 games since the beginning of August.

Perez went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's win over Boston.

Perez was dealing with some back/neck soreness earlier this week but showed no signs of it Friday as he smacked a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run blast in the sixth. The veteran catcher had been stuck in a 10-for-49 (.204) funk since his last home run Aug. 14. He's now slashing .250/.293/.427 with 40 extra-base hits and 61 RBI through 499 plate appearances this season.

The Padres recalled Sullivan from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

After being optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 2, Sullivan will return to the majors as extra catcher depth behind Gary Sanchez and Luis Campusano. Sullivan has slashed just .170/.184/.298 in 49 major-league plate appearances and is unlikely to see consistent playing time.

Sanchez is not in the lineup Friday versus the Giants.

Luis Campusano will start at catcher while Manny Machado takes a turn as the Padres' designated hitter and Matthew Batten covers third base. Sanchez is sitting on a four-game hitting streak and has tallied 18 homers and 44 RBI in 68 games for San Diego.

Murphy is not in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers.

Travis d'Arnaud will do the catching for Atlanta and bat sixth. Murphy has been getting more rest in recent weeks as the runaway NL East leaders look ahead to October.

Jeffers is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Rangers.

Jeffers will get a breather after he went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts Wednesday versus the Guardians. Christian Vazquez will start behind the plate and bat eighth in the opener with Texas.

Stephenson is not in the starting lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader with the Cubs.

Stephenson will head to the bench after he went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the team's 6-2 loss to Chicago in the matinee. Luke Maile will start behind the plate and bat ninth in the nightcap.

Oakland recalled Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Soderstrom gives the Athletics a third option at catcher as they expand their roster from 26 to 28. The 24-year-old entered the 2023 campaign as a consensus top-100 prospect but has slashed just .165/.237/.247 through his first 27 major-league games.
