    Rogers will get a breather Thursday after going 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in his previous game. Carson Kelly will get the nod behind the dish and bat eighth while Rogers is out.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Homers, collects three RBI

    Rutschman went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.

    Rutschman jumped on a hanging four-seamer from Patrick Corbin in the bottom of the third and crushed it over the wall in left-center field to put the Orioles on top 2-0. The star catcher would then tack on another run with an RBI single in the fifth as Baltimore went on to win its fourth straight. Rutschman has now recorded multiple hits in four of his last six games while the home run marked his fourth this month and 20th on the season. He's also drawn at least one walk in four consecutive games.

  • Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Was available Wednesday

    McGuire (thumb) was available to play Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

    McGuire injured his thumb while taking warmup pitches prior to the start of the third inning of Tuesday's loss to the Rays. Connor Wong replaced him Tuesday and started Wednesday. Boston manager Alex Cora said McGuire was available off the bench if needed.

    Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Knocks in three runs in victory

    Jeffers went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI against Oakland in a 6-4 win on Wednesday.

    Jeffers brought Minnesota even at 4-4 with his two-run blast to left field in the sixth inning and added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The backstop went 14 contests without a long ball between Aug. 25 and Sept. 17 but has now gone deep twice in his past four games. Jeffers already has a career-best 42 RBI this season, and he needs one more homer before the end of the campaign to tie his career-high mark of 14.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Pads lead Wednesday

    Maldonado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Mariners.

    Maldonado is hitting .224 (11-for-49) with four homers and eight RBI over 16 games in September. That's an improvement on his .193 batting average for the year, and he's up to 15 homers this season. The catcher has added a mediocre .616 OPS, 36 RBI, 33 runs scored and 12 doubles through 114 contests in 2023.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Not starting in nightcap

    Alvarez isn't in the Mets' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

    After going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts during Game 1, Alvarez's hitless streak extended to seven games. Omar Narvaez will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Sitting again Wednesday

    Campusano remains out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Giants.

    There's no word of any injury, but Campusano is now on the bench for a third consecutive game. Brett Sullivan will start at catcher and bat ninth for the Padres on Wednesday in San Francisco.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Receives Wednesday off

    Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

    Realmuto started the previous five games but will take a seat after the Phillies secured their spot in the playoffs with Tuesday's victory. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Ranger Suarez.
