Fry went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-4 win over the Angels.

Fry has homered five times over his last 13 games, going 14-for-33 (.424) with a 10:6 BB:K in that span. The 28-year-old got a start at catcher versus southpaw Patrick Sandoval in this contest, though manager Stephen Vogt has found room for him in various spots including first base, third base, left field and designated hitter this season. Fry is slashing a stellar .360/.500/.628 with six homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and three stolen bases over 114 plate appearances.

Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

The lefty-hitting Naylor will retreat to the bench as the Guardians prepare to face left-hander Patrick Sandoval. David Fry will fill in behind the dish and bat fifth.

Trevino (illness) isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Trevino was pulled from Thursday's game due to an illness, and he seems to still be under the weather heading into Friday's contest. Austin Wells will pick up another start behind the dish and bat eighth while Trevino rests.

Alvarez (thumb) is set to participate in batting practice Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Alvarez landed on the 10-day IL after tearing the UCL in his left thumb April 19, and the 22-year-old catcher is on track for a return by late June. Alvarez was slashing .236/.288/.364 with one home run and eight RBI over 59 plate appearances prior to his injury.

Jeffers is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rangers.

Jeffers started the previous six games but went 2-for-22 with 10 strikeouts during that stretch, and he'll take a seat for Friday's series opener. Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate and bat ninth.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Rutschman started the previous four games but will sit Friday amid a 3-for-21 mini-slump. James McCann will step in behind the plate to form a battery with Corbin Burnes.

Rogers is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.

Carson Kelly will get the start at catcher as Rogers sits for a second straight game. The 29-year-old Rogers has started only four of Detroit's last 12 games, and he's gone just 2-for-16 over that span with a 1:7 BB:K.

Reetz was designated for assignment by the Giants on Friday.

Reetz will be placed on waivers, but after going 1-for-12 in the big leagues this season, it's unlikely the 28-year-old will be claimed. If he does go unclaimed, Reetz would be expected to remain within the Giants organization.

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

Although the Rays will take on right-hander Seth Lugo, the lefty-batting Rortvedt will give way to Alex Jackson for the series opener. Rortvedt is slashing .264/.385/.310 on the season, but he has just one hit in his last 14 at-bats.

Grandal (groin) is catching and batting eighth Friday against Atlanta, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Grandal missed a pair of games with soreness in his left groin but will return to the starting lineup Friday against lefty Ray Kerr. Grandal is batting .220 with two home runs in 13 games on the year.
