The Marlins activated Fortes (quadricep) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Fortes has fully recovered from a right quadriceps strain and will reclaim his spot on the active roster, sending Jhonny Pereda back to Triple-A Jacksonville. While he'll be active for Friday's game against the Mets, Fortes isn't part of the starting lineup.

The Marlins optioned Pereda to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

With Nick Fortes (quad) returning from the injured list, Pereda will lose his spot on the active roster. Pereda went 3-for-9 with two RBI during his eight-day stint with Miami.

Bart is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

It's a routine day of rest for Bart, who had started each of the previous seven contests (four at catcher, three at designated hitter). Yasmani Grandal will do the catching Friday.

Nido (knee) resumed baseball activities Thursday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Nido will ease back into things after having a debridgement on his right knee in late July. He's expected back sometime in September and should share the Cubs' catching duties with Miguel Amaya when he returns.

Langeliers went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Mets.

Langeliers has been on a tear recently, picking up three or more hits in three of his last four contests. He's gone 11-for-15 with three doubles and a home run in that span after going just 2-for-24 in his previous seven games. Langeliers has boosted his slash line to .230/.295/.468 through 396 plate appearances this year with 22 homers, 61 RBI, 43 runs scored and four stolen bases.

Ruiz went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Thursday's loss to the Phillies.

Ruiz launched a solo shot off Zack Wheeler in the fifth inning to put Washington on the board and then came right back with a second homer off Orion Kerkering in the seventh, though his monster effort would fall well short as Philadelphia cruised to a 13-3 win. It marked the first two-homer game for the catcher this season, and he's batting .295 in August with three homers, seven RBI and seven runs scored. Ruiz has also hit safely in three straight games.

The Yankees optioned Narvaez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

With Jose Trevino (quad) returning from the injured list Thursday and claiming the backup catcher spot, Narvaez will be pushed back to the minor leagues. The 25-year-old appeared in six games during his latest stint in the majors, going 3-for-13 with six strikeouts. Should Trevino or Austin Wells need to miss an extended period of time down the stretch, Narvaez would almost certainly be called upon to rejoin the Yankees.

Manager Aaron Boone said earlier Thursday that Trevino would be activated off the IL ahead of Friday's series opener against the Tigers, and the Yankees have now made the roster move official during the team's day off. The 31-year-old catcher will work as a backup while Austin Wells continues to receive the majority of starts behind the dish, and Carlos Narvaez will be optioned back to Triple-A in order to clear a roster spot.

Jeffers isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Jeffers went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Wednesday's contest, snapping his brief three-game hitting streak, and he'll now take a seat as he continues to split time behind the dish with Christian Vazquez.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday on "Foul Territory" that Trevino (quad) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Boone also reiterated that Austin Wells would continue to see the bulk of the playing time at catcher after Trevino returns. Trevino has been sidelined since mid-July due to a Grade 2 left quad strain and has gone 2-for-8 in three rehab games with Double-A Somerset.
