Nola isn't starting Wednesday against the Pirates.

Nola had started each of the last two games and went 2-for-6 with a double, two RBI and a walk. Victor Caratini will start behind the dish with Yu Darvish on the mound Wednesday.

Maldonado (shoulder) isn't starting Wednesday against the Yankees, Mark Berman of Fox 26 reports.

Maldonado was diagnosed with a trapezius contusion after leaving Tuesday's game against the Yankees. Maldonado will be available off the bench, but manager Dusty Baker said that he'll try not to use the 34-year-old, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Jason Castro will start at catcher and bat ninth.

Higashioka isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Higashioka had started each of the last two games and went1-for-6 with a double, a run, an RBI and three strikeouts during that time. Gary Sanchez will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Ruiz homered in his only at-bat during Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader loss to the Cubs.

Ruiz was called up to the club prior to Tuesday's twin bill, and he logged his first at-bat of the season with the Dodgers down 7-0 in the final inning. The backstop kept Los Angeles from being shut out with a 405-foot solo shot to right field for his second big-league homer. Remarkably, Ruiz's other career long ball also came in his first at-bat of the season (in 2020). He isn't likely to see much time with Will Smith and Austin Barnes entrenched behind the plate for Los Angeles, but Ruiz could stick with the club and carve out occasional plate appearances if the Dodgers decide they have room to continue carrying a third catcher.

Wallach remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Though top catcher Jorge Alfaro (hamstring) hasn't played since April 20, Wallach remains stuck in the No. 2 role behind the plate. Rather than Wallach, veteran Sandy Leon has seemingly emerged as the Marlins' preferred backstop. Leon will pick up his third consecutive start Wednesday.

Leon will start at catcher and bat eighth Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Leon will be behind the dish for the third game in a row and appears to have emerged as the team's primary backstop while Jorge Alfaro (hamstring) remains on the injured list. Through his first 10 games with Miami, Leon is batting .267 with two runs, no extra-base hits and no RBI.

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Barnhart went 2-for-3 while catching all nine innings of the Reds' 9-0 loss Tuesday night, so he'll be getting a breather while Cincinnati and Chicago conclude their series Wednesday with an early game. Tyler Stephenson will pick up the start behind the dish, batting seventh.

Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI during Tuesday's loss to Cleveland.

Perez extended Kansas City's lead with a 460-foot homer against Sam Hentges in the fifth inning. He also hit an RBI single in the third. The 30-year-old now has 553 career RBI, passing John Mayberry for ninth on the Royals leaderboard. Overall this season, Perez is hitting .268/.305/.518 while leading Kansas City in hits (30) and home runs (seven).

Maldonado is negative for concussion symptoms and was diagnosed with a trapezius contusion after leaving Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

It's good news for the 34-year-old after he was hit in the head during a collision at home plate with Rougned Odor. Maldonado should be considered day-to-day but will be held out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.

Huff (knee) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was ruled out for eight weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a loose body from his knee in late April, so the move to the 60-day IL is unlikely to affect his return timeline. Huff could be back in late June or early July if all goes well in his recovery.
