Diaz isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Diaz has recorded multi-hit performances in four of his last five appearances, and he went 8-for-17 with a double, two RBI and two strikeouts during that time. Dom Nunez will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Stassi went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.

Stassi put the Angels up early with a two-run blast in the second but the team only managed three hits the rest of the night and was unable to score again. The 30-year-old backstop does have two home runs over his last three games to put him at 13 for the year, but he's hitting a pedestrian .180/.279/.320 with four homers, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and 14:48 BB:K in 37 games since the beginning of August.

Perez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and three total runs in Tuesday's 6-4 victory versus Cleveland.

Perez exited Monday's contest with an apparent injury, but he turned out to be fine and was back behind the plate Tuesday. He appeared no worse for wear, reaching base three times and belting a 429-foot solo shot in the sixth inning. Perez broke the MLB record for home runs by a primary catcher in a single season last week, and he now leads the league with 47 homers and 118 RBI on the campaign. His RBI total is the highest in a campaign for a catcher since Mike Piazza drove in 124 runs in 1999.

Haase went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Haase recorded two hits in the second straight game, which is a welcome sign after he had just two hits total in his last five contests before Monday. The 28-year-old may have a hot streak in him to end the year and could bolster his already career-best counting stats.

Fortes is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Fortes received the start in Game 1 and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Payton Henry will start behind the plate for Miami in the nightcap.

Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

The catcher appeared in two games in the majors after having his contract purchased by Pittsburgh on Sept. 20. He went 2-for-5 with a walk in those contests. Jacob Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday following a concussion that caused him to miss over a week of action.

Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The 31-year-old spent just over a week on the injured list but has been participating in baseball activities since last week. Taylor Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the active roster, and Stallings will take over as the primary catcher for the final few games of the regular season.

Kirk will sit Tuesday against the Yankees.

Kirk has suddenly gone quite cold at the plate, hitting just .105/.227/.184 over his last 14 games, though his 6:5 BB:K over that stretch indicates that he's still seeing the ball well. Danny Jansen starts behind the plate Tuesday.

Perez (face) is starting Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

Perez was removed from Monday's series opener due to an apparent injury, but he'll be back in action a day later. He'll start behind the dish and bat third.

Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates due to wrist soreness, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Although Austin Romine is starting at catcher in Contreras' place Tuesday, the injury isn't considered serious. Manager David Ross said Tuesday that he's hopeful Contreras will be able to return to action Wednesday.
