  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Cranks 12th homer

    Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

    Realmuto left the yard against Patrick Corbin in the seventh inning. After heating up with 10 hits over the last four games, the 30-year-old backstop has raised his season slash line to .275/.360/.458 to go with 12 long balls.

    Nationals' Riley Adams: Called up to big leagues

    Adams was recalled from Triple-A Rochester prior to Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

    Adams was acquired from the Blue Jays in the trade that sent Brad Hand to Toronto last week. After hitting an ugly .107 across his first 30 major-league plate appearances, Adams will look to get off to a better start with Washington. Per Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington, the rookie is expected to split time with Tres Barrera behind the plate going forward.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Enormous against Pittsburgh

    Realmuto went 5-for-6 with two doubles, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

    Realmuto made his presence felt early in the game with an RBI single in the first, scoring Travis Jankowski, and he later added an RBI double in the fifth that scored Bryce Harper. The star catcher wasn't done for the day, though, and he chipped in with a two-run single in the eighth as well. This was one of the most complete individual performances in the entire season and it boosted Realmuto's average to a solid .278 mark since the beginning of July. He continues to be one of the most productive backstops in the entire league.

    Rockies' Elias Diaz: Day off Sunday

    Diaz is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

    Diaz started the past two games and will receive a maintenance day in the series finale. Dom Nunez will catch for Austin Gomber and bat eighth.

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Out of Sunday's lineup

    Smith is not in the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

    Smith went 3-for-9 with a walk and two runs through the first two games of the series and will take a seat for the finale. Austin Barnes will start behind the plate in his place.

    Nationals' Tres Barrera: Out of Sunday's lineup

    Barrera is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

    The 26-year-old started the past three games and will receive the day off Sunday. Barrera should continue to see regular starts down the stretch for Washington following the departure of Yan Gomes ahead of the trade deadline.

    Mets' James McCann: Out of Sunday's lineup

    McCann is not starting Sunday against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

    McCann has a .676 OPS in 13 games since the All-Star break and will sit for the second time in the past three contests. Tomas Nido will work behind the plate Sunday.

    Stallings is not in the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

    Stallings started the first two games of the series and will take a seat for Sunday's afternoon matchup. Michael Perez will catch for Mitch Keller in the finale.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Day off Sunday

    Contreras is not starting Sunday against the Nationals.

    Contreras started the last three games and will take a seat after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts Saturday. Robinson Chirinos will start behind the plate and bat seventh in his place in the series finale.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Gets breather

    Barnhart is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

    Barnhart will receive some routine maintenance in the series finale after he had caught each of the Reds' last three games. Tyler Stephenson will replace Barnhart behind the dish Sunday while batting out of the cleanup spot.
