  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Mets' Tomas Nido: Lands on COVID-19 IL

Nido was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear how long Nido will be sidelined, but he will be unavailable until he has put the COVID-19 concerns behind him. Michael Perez was called up to take Nido's spot on the roster.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday

Narvaez (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Narvaez has been dealing with a quadriceps strain since early August but has been cleared to return to game action with the minor-league club. He's been on the injured list for just under two weeks, and it's possible that he'll be able to rejoin the Brewers as early as this weekend.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Back with team

Barnes (personal) was activated from the bereavement list Monday.

Barnes was away from the team for a few days while tending to a personal matter, but he rejoined his teammates in Milwaukee and will resume his role as the backup catcher behind Will Smith.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Ready to go Monday

D'Arnaud (lower leg) is starting at catcher and batting seventh against the Mets on Monday.

The catcher will be back in the lineup for the first time since Aug. 6 after a lower leg injury. Since the All-Star break, d'Arnaud has produced a .226 average with two doubles, two RBI and four runs over 31 at-bats in nine games.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Another steal Sunday

Fortes went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.

The steal was his first since July 25 and his fifth of the season in only 123 plate appearances -- a surprising performance on the basepaths considering Fortes has only seven career stolen bases in the minors. The 25-year-old backstop is pushing for more playing time, batting .318 (7-for-22) since the All-Star break with a double, a homer, five runs and six RBI.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Giants' Joey Bart: Joins Sunday's lineup

Bart (ankle) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

A sore ankle prevented Bart from starting San Francisco's last four games, but he is ready to get back behind the plate. He will hit ninth Sunday against Pirates starter Zach Thompson.

  • Brewers' Victor Caratini: Catches breather Sunday

Caratini is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

After starting eight straight games, Caratini will get a chance to rest. Mario Feliciano will take Caratini's place behind the plate.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Cubs' Yan Gomes: Starting Sunday's contest

Gomes is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Willson Contreras gets a breather in the series finale, while Franmil Reyes will serve as the DH. The addition of Reyes has cut into Gomes' playing time, as the former is seeing most of his playing time at DH, and Gomes typically either catches or serves as the DH when he's in the lineup. At this point, the veteran simply looks like a backup to Contreras, which limits his fantasy appeal.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Out of Sunday's lineup

Contreras is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Contreras started the first two games against Cincinnati but will get the series finale off. Yan Gomes will do the catching Sunday, with Franmil Reyes slotting in as the DH. Contreras has had another good season behind the plate, supplying an .831 OPS and 17 home runs across 96 games so far.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Sitting out Sunday

Smith is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs and a walk in Saturday's contest, but he will be held out Sunday with the Dodgers playing a day game following a night game. Tony Wolters will replace Smith behind the plate.
