Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Rodriguez posted an impressive four-RBI game Saturday, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning. After a slow start in the majors, he has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games. However, he'll get a day of rest behind the dish with Austin Hedges taking over and hitting ninth.

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-6 loss to the Nationals.

His ninth-inning shot off Andres Machado didn't impact the final result, but it did give the rookie catcher his first career 20-homer season. Alvarez's development has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets in 2023, but the 21-year-old might be wearing down under a heavy workload, slashing .200/.289/.425 in 12 games since the All-Star break.

Adams went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI in Saturday's 11-6 win over the Mets.

The 27-year-old backstop is having a breakout season, and through 100 plate appearances he's slashing .304/.354/.565 with four homers and 15 RBI. Adams isn't going to bump Keibert Ruiz out of the top spot on the depth chart, but he has started three of the last seven games and should continue to earn a bigger share of the workload at catcher as long as he keeps producing at the plate.

Gomes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-1 win against the Cardinals.

Gomes hit one of two two-run homers for Chicago in the contest, taking Adam Wainwright deep to center field in the fourth inning. The long ball was just the second over the past 36 games for the backstop, though he's been otherwise quite productive of late. Over his past nine games, Gomes is batting .352 (12-for-34) with four doubles, two triples, Saturday's homer and eight RBI.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs in Saturday's loss to Atlanta.

Contreras produced both extra-base hits for the Brewers in the contest, doubling and scoring in the fourth inning before drilling a three-run homer in the eighth. The backstop finished with his 12th multi-hit effort over 21 games in July. During the month, he's batting .356 with three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBI.

The Padres recalled Sullivan from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Sullivan is slashing just .170/.184/.298 through 49 plate appearances in the majors this season, but he's caught fire in Triple-A to the tune of a 1.028 OPS since July 1. Despite his hot bat, Sullivan will likely remain stuck behind Luis Campusano and Gary Sanchez on the depth chart. Taylor Kohlwey was optioned to El Paso in a corresponding move.

Ruiz isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday versus the Mets, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz will take a seat Saturday after going 5-for-19 with two RBI and a run scored across his last five contests. Riley Adams will take over behind the plate and bat eighth.

Stephenson isn't in the Reds' lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.

Stephenson will catch a breather after going 1-for-6 across his last two games. Luke Maile will start behind the dish in Stephenson's place and bat ninth.

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

After going 1-for-4 and scoring a run during Friday's contest, Murphy will catch a breather Saturday. Travis d'Arnaud will take over behind the plate and bat fifth.

Contreras (head) will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter Friday against the Cubs, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Although it doesn't seem Contreras is quite ready to get back behind the plate after getting hit in the head Thursday by Ian Happ's backswing, the Cardinals will keep his bat in the lineup. Andrew Knizner will start at catcher Friday and bat eighth.
