Ali Sanchez C | BOS
Marlins' Ali Sanchez: Dealt to Miami
The Cubs traded Sanchez to the Marlins on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.
Sanchez has spent the entire season with Triple-A Iowa, slashing .240/.338/.388 with 21 RBI across 148 plate appearances. Given the awful seasons Nick Fortes and Christian Bethancourt have both had in the majors, it's possible Sanchez gets his first look in the big leagues since 2021 if he continues at his current pace.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Braves' Sean Murphy: Breaks out with two homers
Murphy went 4-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Tigers.
Murphy extended Atlanta's lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a two-run blast off Tarik Skubal before cranking a second two-run homer in the fifth off Mason Englert. It's the first multi-hit game of the year for Murphy, who was batting just .135 with a lone homer through his first 15 games this season. Perhaps Wednesday's outburst is a sign of things to come for the 29-year-old backstop -- Murphy posted an .843 OPS with 21 homers across 438 plate appearances last year.

Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Three more hits Tuesday
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
The Mets' offense has suddenly roared to life, scoring 52 runs over the course of a seven-game win streak, and it's perhaps no coincidence that Alvarez returned from his thumb injury the day before the streak started. The 22-year-old backstop has delivered back-to-back three-hit performances, boosting his slash line on the season to .269/.305/.372 through 24 contests with a homer, nine runs and 14 RBI.

Christian Bethancourt C | CHC
Marlins' Christian Bethancourt: Pops second homer
Bethancourt went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.
The veteran catcher launched a solo shot off Lance Lynn in the sixth inning, Bethancourt's second homer of the season. The hits were his first since May 27, and the 32-year-old has offered little at the plate as the backup to Nick Fortes, slashing a woeful .159/.198/.268 on the year in 88 plate appearances.

Tomas Nido C | DET
Cubs' Tomas Nido: Signs with Cubs
The Cubs signed Nido to a one-year contract Wednesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
The Cubs will swap out Yan Gomes -- who was designated for assignment -- for Nido. Nido was designated for assignment himself and eventually released by the Mets earlier this month but he quickly lands on his feet in Chicago, where he'll share catching duties with Miguel Amaya.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Getting afternoon off
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
He'll take a seat for the afternoon game after making starts at catcher and designated hitter in the first two contests of the series in Pittsburgh. Luke Maile will check in for Stephenson behind the plate Wednesday.

Ivan Herrera C | STL
Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Getting breather Wednesday
Herrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Herrera will get a breather for Wednesday's day game after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored while catching the first nine innings of Tuesday night's 9-8 extra-inning loss. Pedro Pages will step in behind the dish for the series finale.
