Murphy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

It's the second straight day and third time in Atlanta's past four games that Murphy will be on the bench. The 29-year-old has a .633 OPS in August and will cede catching duties to Travis d'Arnaud on Tuesday.

Del Castillo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Del Castillo will take a seat Tuesday with left-hander Sean Manaea out on the mound for the Mets. Del Castillo has just one start against a left-hander, but he does have a 1.000 OPS in a small sample size of 11 plate appearances against southpaws. Jose Herrera has the start behind the dish Tuesday for Arizona, batting ninth.

Fortes isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Fortes will get a chance to rest Tuesday after going 2-for-3 with a run scored during a loss in Monday's series opener. Ali Sanchez will catch instead for Roddery Munoz and bat ninth.

The Giants outrighted Reetz to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Reetz will stick around in the Giants organization as catching depth after he cleared waivers upon being designated for assignment Friday. The 28-year-old backstop has appeared in six games at the big-league level for the Giants in 2024 while going 2-for-14 with a solo home run and a walk.

Contreras won't require surgery on his fractured right middle finger, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Contreras will be considered no impact for the next three weeks, but if all goes well, he'll be cleared to start a progression at that time. It's unclear how long he would need to ramp back up, but he'd need to do so quickly to have a chance to return for the final week or two of the regular season.

Amaya went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI in Monday's 18-8 win over the Pirates.

Amaya has been on fire lately, and he kept rolling Monday. The catcher went 0-for-1 off the bench Sunday, but otherwise he's gone 12-for-17 over his last five games with five extra-base hits. Amaya had yet to really take off at the MLB level before this stretch of games, though the 25-year-old could be turning a corner. While he's unlikely to stay this hot, Amaya could be poised for a big finish as Chicago's top option behind the plate.

Romo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Romo will get a breather Monday after he picked up starts behind the plate both of the past two days. Jacob Stallings will handle catching duties for the Rockies in the series opener.

Travis d'Arnaud returned to the lineup Saturday after missing about a week of action with a wrist injury, so Murphy appears set to move back into more a timeshare at catcher after he had started behind the plate in six of the past seven contests. Murphy has posted a .633 OPS in August, roughly in line with his disappointing .665 mark for the season.

The Pirates recalled Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Davis will receive another opportunity as a result of Joey Bart (hamstring) landing on the 10-day injured list. The 24-year-old has managed a .503 OPS in 29 games in the majors this season but had been hitting well of late with Indianapolis with a .939 OPS and a couple of home runs over his last 12 contests. Davis should share catching responsibilities with Yasmani Grandal while Bart is sidelined.

The Pirates placed Bart on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

Bart suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Reds while attempting to beat out an RBI groundout. The severity of the strain is not known, though general manager Ben Cherington expressed optimism that Bart's injury is "minor" and won't keep him from returning from the IL this season, per Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pirates recalled Henry Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Bart's roster spot, and Davis should share catching duties with Yasmani Grandal for the duration of Bart's absence.
