Yasmani Grandal lands on 60-day DL
The Padres announced Sunday catcher Yasmani Grandal was placed on the 60-day disabled list with a right knee sprain. Although, it was reported Saturday Grandal suffered damage to the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee as a result of Anthony Rendon sliding into Grandal's leg, per MLB.com.
Grandal is scheduled for X-rays Sunday and MRI Monday to determine if he needs season-ending surgery.

Yasmani Grandal could face season-ending surgery
Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after suffering damage to the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee during Saturday's game against the Nationals, according to MLB.com. Grandal was injured on a play at the plate.
"I thought I'd have time to get my foot out," Grandal said. "I didn't really expect the impact. I knew that something was wrong. You just don't get knee pain for no reason."
Grandal will receive an X-ray on his knee Sunday before having an MRI Monday. If Grandal needs surgery, then his season will be over. Rene Rivera is being summoned from Triple-A Tucson to take Grandal's roster spot and Nick Hundley should assume the starting catcher duties.
"It was one of those rare plays where you've got to keep your foot on the plate if you're going to get an out," said Grandal, who was using crutches after the game. "It happens."

Yasmani Grandal diagnosed with knee sprain
Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal was officially diagnosed with a sprained right knee, the team announced after he left Saturday's game against the Nationals. Grandal had to be carried off the field after a collision at the plate.
The team is expected to update his condition after the game, though it is not clear yet whether he will be undergoing an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Nationals, due to a right leg injury suffered while blocking the plate. Grandal had to be carried off the field, and was unable to put weight on the leg.
The nature and full extent of the injury are not yet known, but the Padres will likely give an update on his status soon.

Mets catcher prospect Travis d'Arnaud, who is rehabbing a broken left foot, had discomfort while running on flat ground, according to ESPN. However, it was to be expected, according to Mets' personnel.
He has been sidelined for Triple-A Las Vegas since mid-April, delaying his MLB debut.

Devin Mesoraco plays hero in extra innings
Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was the hero of Saturday's 6-4 win over the Rangers, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning. The home run, which was his fourth of the season, was Mesoraco's only hit in five at-bats.
Mesoraco has hit .238/.313/.371 in 143 at-bats but just .208/.300/.325 in 77 at-bats on the road.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal went 2 for 4 with one double, one RBI and two runs in Friday's 9-2 win over the Marlins. He's 8 for 20 with five doubles and six runs over his last six games.
Grandal has a .237 batting average, one home run, nine RBI and a 14:14 K:BB ratio in 76 at-bats.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal went 1 for 3 with his fourth double of the season and scored his team's only run in a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers Saturday. He has doubled in back-to-back games after recording just two doubles in his first 56 at-bats.
Grandal has hit .210/.333/.323 with one home run and eight RBI in 62 at-bats since rejoining the team in late May.

Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud has been running in a rehabilitation pool that reduces the amount of weight being placed on his fractured left foot, assistant general manager John Ricco told ESPN on Friday.
d'Arnaud fractured his left foot in mid-April and shed his walking boot last week. He was hitting .250/.429/.472 in 36 at-bats at Triple-A Las Vegas before the injury.

Kevin Plawecki promoted to high Class A
Mets catcher prospect Kevin Plawecki was promoted from low Class A Savannah to high Class A St. Lucie Thursday, according to ESPN. Plawecki hit .314 with a .494 slugging percentage, .884 OPS, six home runs, 24 doubles and 43 RBI in 65 games for Savannah.
However, Plawecki's numbers gradually declined after a torrid April. He hit .391 with four homers, 12 doubles and 20 RBI in 23 April games. He then hit .300 with two homers, 10 doubles and 19 RBI in 29 May games. Finally, he hit .208 with no homers, two doubles and four RBI in 13 June games.
