  • Brewers' Martin Maldonado: Homers in series-finale

Maldonado went 1-for-3 with a homer in Wednesday's 3-1 win over St. Louis.

Maldonado's homer was a bright spot in an otherwise poor season so far as he's batted .091 coming into Wednesday's game. He's only started 10 games this year with Jonathan Lucroy receiving most of the catching duties which has likely resulted in the 29-year-old not finding his groove yet.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Barnhart is not in the lineupfor Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Barnhart will get a rest after catching four consecutive days in games against the Brewers and Rockies. The 25-year-old is hitting .240/.292/.339 with one home run and nine RBI this season and will likely be back behind the plate Thursday.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Out of lineup Wednesday

Grandal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Chicago.

Grandal started the previous two games so it appears to be just a routine day off for him. The Dodgers are going with A.J. Ellis behind the plate in place of the 27-year-old catcher. Grandal, who hasn't recorded a multi-hit game since May 4, will likely be back in the lineup for Thursday's series-finale.

  • Mets' Kevin Plawecki: Out of the lineup Wednesday

Plawecki is out of the lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the White Sox.

Plawecki continues to alternate starts with Rene Rivera while Travis d'Arnaud recovers from a shoulder injury. While nothing is set in stone, it looks like the two will continue splitting the catching duties in some fashion as long as d'Arnaud is out.

It looks like this will to happen as long as d'Arnaud is out.

  • Mets' Travis d'Arnaud: Not close to going on rehab assignment

Manager Terry Collins indicated Tuesday that d'Arnaud (shoulder) is not close to going on a rehab assignment, The Record's Matt Ehalt reports.

This only confuses the matter, as there was a report earlier in the day that d'Arnaud could be headed on a rehab assignment this weekend. Apparently he suffered a setback, but hopefully more information will come to light in the coming days regarding where he's at in his recovery. For now he should be considered out indefinitely.

  • Padres' Hector Sanchez: Hits fifth homer of season Tuesday

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a home run against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Sanchez saw action midway into the game, and responded quite nicely at the plate with his first homer of the season in two at-bats. Sanchez is not going to see a lot of playing time behind Derek Norris and Christian Betancourt, but the 26-year-old has hit safely in three of the last four games.

  • Mets' Travis d'Arnaud: Nearing rehab stint

D'Arnaud (shoulder) is closing in on a rehab assignment, ESPN New York reports.

The catcher has not participated in live game action since late-April, but he could embark on a rehab stint as early as this weekend. D'Arnaud is nursing a strained rotator cuff strain and figures to require several appearances before returning to New York, where he'll step back in as the primary catcher.

  • Padres' Christian Bethancourt: Knocks in run, steals base in Padres loss

Bethancourt went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's Memorial Day loss to the Mariners.

Bethancourt was getting the start on Monday at the DH spot on the road in Seattle. The catcher never found his fit in Atlanta despite being a top prospect, but has comported himself well in his first season in San Diego. The 24-year-old is batting .267 with four home runs and 11 RBI in part-time duty this season.

  • Cameron Rupp C | MIN

Phillies' Cameron Rupp: Not in Monday's lineup

Rupp is out of the lineup Monday against the Nationals, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.

Rupp has made back-to-back starts behind the plate, but will sit Monday for the team's second consecutive day game. Backup Carlos Ruiz will man the backstop in his stead.
