  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Getting day off

Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

For the sixth game in a row, the Blue Jays will alternate the starts at catcher between Jansen and Reese McGuire. Though Jansen maintains the top spot on the depth chart, manager Charlie Montoyo's recent usage of his backstops suggests a timeshare could be in place while the 24-year-old labors through a rough second half. Over his 20 games since the All-Star break, Jansen is slashing .185/.254/.262 with a 28.2 percent strikeout rate.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Sits for evening game

Rogers is not in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Rogers went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, the second of his career, in the afternoon contest. John Hicks gets the nod behind the plate for the evening game.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Day off Tuesday

Perez is not starting Tuesday against Texas.

Perez hits the bench after starting eight of the last nine games. Kevin Plawecki starts behind the plate in his absence.

  • Royals' Cam Gallagher: Sitting again Tuesday

Gallagher isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Gallagher will once again head to the bench, the third time he's done so in the last four days. Meibrys Viloria draws the start behind the dish and is set to bat eighth in Gallagher's stead.

  • James McCann C | ARI

White Sox's James McCann: Resting for first game of twin bill

McCann is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.

After going 6-for-40 with 17 strikeouts over his previous 11 games, McCann seemed to get back on track against his former team in Monday's series opener, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI in Chicago's 7-4 win. He'll get a breather for the front end of the twin bill while Welington Castillo checks in behind the dish, but expect McCann to log the start at catcher in the nightcap.

  • Seby Zavala C | LAD

White Sox's Seby Zavala: Shuttled back to Triple-A

Zavala was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte following Monday's game against the Tigers.

Zavala went 0-for-3 in two games since being promoted to the big leagues Friday. Welington Castillo is expected to return from the bereavement list Tuesday in a corresponding move.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Throws from 45 feet

Perez (elbow) threw from 45 feet Monday, Joel Goldberg of Fox Sports Kansas City reports.

Perez has been out all season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He won't play at any point this year, but the fact that he's throwing nearly eight months before the start of the 2020 campaign is a good sign for his availability for next year's Opening Day.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Rehab beginning Wednesday

Sanchez (groin) will catch in a pair of rehab games Wednesday and Thursday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Sanchez has been out with a minor groin strain since July 23. He's expected to join the Yankees in Toronto at some point over the weekend if his rehab games go smoothly.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Day off Monday

Jansen is not in the lineup Monday against the Rays.

Jansen has just five hits in his last 12 games. He'll hit the bench for the second time in three days, with Reese McGuire starting behind the plate.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Sitting again Monday

Garver is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Braves.

Garver may be starting to fall out of favor as the top option in the Twins' catching timeshare, as he'll head to the bench for the fourth time in five games while Jason Castro checks in behind the plate. Though Garver's .978 OPS paces all catchers with at least 200 plate appearances by nearly 100 points, the lack of a clear full-time role narrows that gap for fantasy purposes.
