Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Still out Friday

Narvaez (back) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Narvaez will sit for the fourth consecutive game as he continues to manage back spasms, though he did appear as a pinch hitter Thursday. Austin Nola will start behind the dish for the Mariners on Friday.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Remains on bench Friday

Stassi is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Not starting Friday

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

D'Arnaud was pulled from Thursday's contest due to neck and shoulder tightness, so it's not a major surprise to see him remain on the bench Friday. Mike Zunino will start behind the plate and bat eighth in his stead.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Mariners' Austin Nola: Registers first multi-homer game

Nola went 3-for-6 with a pair of homers, a double and five RBI while scoring three times in a loss to Houston on Thursday.

Nola plated Seattle's first run with a double in the first inning, crushed a two-run homer to left field in the second and went deep again in the seventh. The long balls were the first for Nola since he left the yard in three straight games Aug. 17-19. The 29-year-old rookie is slashing .277/.337/.497 with nine homers and 23 RBI in 60 games this season.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Makes third straight start

Collins started at first base and went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in Thursday's 7-1 win over Cleveland.

True to general manager Rick Hahn's word, the White Sox are giving Collins a fair shake in September. This was his third straight start with the first two coming at designated hitter. He's 2-for-7 with a triple, an RBI and four walks in the three games.

  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Dealing with neck tightness

D'Arnaud was removed from Thursday's game due to neck and shoulder tightness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

It sounds like d'Arnaud may have been dinged a few times behind the plate. Mike Zunino replaced him for the ninth inning. D'Arnaud was hitless prior to exiting and is now 1-for-15 in his last four games, with the one hit going for a homer.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Remains out Thursday

Narvaez is still dealing with back spasms and will miss a third consecutive game as a result. Tom Murphy is once again starting behind the dish in his place.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Heads to bench

Jansen is not in the lineup Thursday against the Rays.

Jansen is hitting just .208 with a .646 OPS through 99 games this season. He'll sit for a second straight game and the fourth time in six games as Reese McGuire picks up a start behind the dish Thursday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Back in action

Garver (jaw) is starting at catcher and hitting sixth Thursday against the Red Sox.

Garver has been cleared to rejoin the lineup for Thursday's series finale after missing the past two games with a sore jaw, which he suffered after taking a foul tip to the mask Monday. Through 78 games this season, the backstop is slashing .273/.356/.618 with a career-high 26 home runs and 57 RBI.
