  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

    Twins' Mitch Garver: Resting Saturday

Garver is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cleveland, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Garver hits the bench after starting two games in a row. Only once this season has he made three consecutive starts. Willians Astudillo will start behind the plate in his absence.

  • Rays' Deivy Grullon: Claimed by Rays

Grullon was claimed off waivers by the Rays on Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Grullon has spent the year bouncing between several different organizations. He was briefly with the Rays for 18 days in April but never made the team's active roster. It will likely take an injury for that to happen this time around.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Not starting Saturday

Sanchez is out of the lineup Saturday against the White Sox.

As usual, Kyle Higashioka starts behind the dish with Gerrit Cole pitching. Sanchez has played in 31 games to Higashioka's 22, but with their offensive numbers so similar, the latter, who's a better defensive catcher, is progressing toward being the Yankees' preferred option at the position.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Ends long night in grand fashion

Mejia went 1-for-4 with two walks and a grand slam in Friday's 9-7 extra-innings win over the Blue Jays.

His second homer of the season came in dramatic fashion as he drove a Jeremy Beasley offering over the fence in right field with the bases loaded in the 12th inning to break open a 5-5 tie. Mejia hadn't driven in a run since April 21, and the catcher is slashing only .185/.353/.296 through 34 plate appearances in May even after Friday's heroics.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Records two hits in win

Haase went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's win over the Royals.

Notably, Haase started in left field for just the second time this season. The 28-year-old typically plays catcher, but he's shown a little more versatility recently and has been able to earn more playing time as a result, with Friday's contest marking the sixth straight start for Haase.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Collects two hits in win

Rogers went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's win over the Royals.

Rogers batted ninth but still found a way to contribute to the Detroit victory. This was the 26-year-old's first game action since Monday, which is also when Wilson Ramos (back) returned from the injured list. With Ramos active, Rogers is unlikely to play enough to warrant fantasy attention, though the Tigers could give him more playing time if they fully fall out of contention.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Plates three runs

Vazquez went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over the Phillies.

Vazquez has hit safely in three straight contests and has recorded two hits in each of his last two appearances. The backstop has had a few up-and-down performances of late, and he has hit 18-for-60 during the current month with 13 RBI.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Not starting Friday

Jansen is out of the lineup Friday against the Rays.

Jansen is 6-for-16 with a double, two RBI and four runs over his past six games, but he'll head to the bench Friday. Reese McGuire will work behind the plate for Toronto.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Receives breather

Maldonado is out of the lineup Friday against the Rangers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Maldonado started the past six games behind the plate and will receive a well-earned day off Friday. Jason Castro will catch for Houston.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Sitting second straight game

Grandal is not in the lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Grandal is 4-for-17 with three homers, eight walks, seven RBI and eight runs over his past seven games, but he'll take a seat for the second straight contest Friday. Zack Collins will receive another start behind the plate for Chicago.
