Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Out Sunday with wrist issue
Jansen (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Jansen will be on the bench for a second straight day while he contends with an inflamed right wrist. Alejandro Kirk will get another turn behind the dish in Jansen's stead, catching for starting pitcher Chris Bassitt.

Carlos Perez C | CHW
White Sox's Carlos Perez: Rejoins big club
Perez was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
The 26-year-old will join the major-league roster with Seby Zavala (oblique) landing on the injured list. Perez should operate as Chicago's backup catcher with Yasmani Grandal handling the bulk of the work.

Seby Zavala C | LAD
White Sox's Seby Zavala: Out with oblique strain
Zavala was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a strained left oblique.
Zavala has apparently been dealing with the injury for the past few days since he hasn't seen the field since going 1-for-3 with a solo homer Wednesday. Carlos Perez was called up in a corresponding move, while Yasmani Grandal should serve as the White Sox's top option behind the plate.

Kyle Teel C | CHW
Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Begins career in FCL
Teel went 3-for-3 with a home run for Boston's entry in the Florida Complex League on Saturday.
Boston's top pick in the 2023 draft kicked off his professional career in the FCL on Thursday, when he went 0-for-2. He was selected 14th overall following an impressive season at Virginia, batting .407 with 13 homers, 59 RBI and a 1.130 OPS over 65 games. Teel is a catcher first but has played outfield, per MLB Pipeline, and could handle playing second or third base.

David Fry C | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: On bench for second straight game
Fry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Though he appeared on track to move into an everyday role after Josh Naylor (oblique) was placed on the injured list Friday, Fry finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row following three consecutive starts at first base. Kole Calhoun will pick up the start at first base in place of Fry, whose move to the bench comes while he's gone 0-for-11 with a walk over his last five contests.

Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Reclaims top catching job
Grandal will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
After sitting out a stretch of three straight games from last Sunday through Wednesday, Grandal has now picked up starts behind the plate in four straight contests. Though Grandal is holding down an unremarkable .688 OPS for the season, the White Sox still appear to be viewing him as a superior option at catcher than Seby Zavala.

Seby Zavala C | LAD
White Sox's Seby Zavala: Losing work to Grandal
Zavala is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Beginning July 26, Zavala began a stretch in which he made six starts behind the dish in seven games, but he's now been on the bench for four consecutive contests. With Zavala having mustered a lowly .439 OPS since the beginning of July, the White Sox appear to have pulled the plug on him as their primary catcher and have turned those duties back over to Yasmani Grandal.

Jonah Heim C | ATH
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Plays catch
Heim (wrist) played catch Saturday, his first activity since landing on the injured list, MLB.com reports.
Heim's injury may eventually require surgery, but the Rangers are hoping a period of rest will allow him to come back in a couple of weeks and put off surgery until the offseason. The switch-hitting Heim may be limited to hitting from the left side when he returns.
