Cesar Salazar C | HOU
Astros' Cesar Salazar: Optioned to Sugar Land
The Astros optioned Salazar to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for Victor Caratini (hip), who was activated off the 10-day injured list Monday. Salazar has served as the backup catcher since he was initially called up June 11, and across nine major-league games he went 7-for-22 with two doubles and eight RBI. In Triple-A this season, Salazar is slashing .274/.387/.458 with six home runs and 35 RBI across 204 plate appearances.

The Astros activated Caratini (hip) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: Launches seventh home run
Wells went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's win against the Rays.
The 25-year-old slugged the first of five Yankee home runs on the afternoon, going back-to-back with Anthony Volpe in the second inning. Wells continues to see regular playing time behind the plate, especially with Jose Trevino (quadriceps) on the shelf. Wells has compiled a .223 batting average with seven home runs, 21 RBI and 27 runs scored across 65 games this season.

Bo Naylor C | CLE
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Out versus left-hander
Naylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.
Southpaw Tarik Skubal will be the Tigers' starting pitching, so the left-handed-hitting Naylor will begin the contest on the bench. Austin Hedges will draw the start at catcher.

Carson Kelly C | CHC
Tigers' Carson Kelly: Taking seat Monday
Kelly is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Cleveland.
Kelly had started four of the last five games but will begin the series opener against the Guardians on the bench. Jake Rogers will handle catching duties for Detroit with Tarik Skubal on the mound.

Ben Rortvedt C | NYM
Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Getting Monday off
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
With southpaw Carlos Rodon toeing the rubber for the Yankees, the lefty-hitting Rortvedt will head to the bench for the series finale. Alex Jackson will spell Rortvedt behind the plate.

Freddy Fermin C | SD
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Sitting again Sunday
Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Fermin will sit for the second straight game while Salvador Perez starts behind the plate and Adam Frazier serves as the Royals' designated hitter. The Royals' willingness to deploy Perez at first base or DH on his non-catching days should continue to open up more playing time for Fermin compared to most No. 2 backstops, though Fermin's opportunities have taken a hit while his bat has cooled down of late. Fermin has gone 2-for-14 with a walk and four strikeouts over his last four starts.

David Fry RF | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: Sitting in series finale
Fry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
After going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI in Friday's 7-0 win, Fry remained in the lineup at designated hitter in Saturday's 7-0 loss, finishing 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Though he was named a first-time All-Star and upholds an .860 OPS on the season, Fry is slashing just .130/.231/.130 over his last nine games and has started to lose out on regular playing time versus right-handed pitching. He'll be the odd man out of the lineup Sunday while Jose Ramirez gets a day out of the infield and serves as the Guardians' designated hitter.

Bo Naylor C | CLE
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Taking seat Sunday
Naylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
Naylor started the first two games of the series but will receive Sunday off after going 1-for-7 with a run and four strikeouts. Austin Hedges will work behind the plate and bat ninth in the finale.
