  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Reaches twice in MLB debut

Dingler went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Monday's 8-4 loss to the Guardians.

Making his MLB debut, Dingler batted sixth and looked fairly comfortable in the position. The 25-year-old certainly earned the promotion, as he was slashing .308/.379/.559 for Triple-A Toledo so far this season, and Sunday's trade of Carson Kelly opened up a roster spot. The rookie will likely split time with Jake Rogers behind the plate just like Kelly did, though Dingler could quickly seize a larger share of playing time if he plays well. His short-term fantasy value is pointing upward.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Blasts three-run homer

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 8-4 win over the Tigers.

Naylor took Bryan Sammons deep in the sixth inning for his seventh homer of the year. Naylor now has three homers and eight RBI over his last 16 games after registering just four long balls and 20 RBI in his first 63 games. The 24-year-old is trending upward and should continue to get everyday at-bats down the stretch.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Getting rest

Lee is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Lee will get a breather for the series opener versus Kansas City after he had started behind the plate in three of the previous four contests. Chuckie Robinson will handle catching duties for the White Sox on Monday.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: On bench for nightcap

Kirk is out of the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader with the Orioles.

Kirk will take a seat for the second game of the twin bill after he went 3-for-4 with a trio of base hits in the Blue Jays' 11-5 loss in the first contest of the day. Though Brian Serven will get the nod behind the dish for the nightcap, Kirk looks like the Blue Jays' clear No. 1 catcher moving forward following the recent trade of Danny Jansen to the Red Sox.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Orioles' James McCann: Likely has broken nose

Manager Brandon Hyde said that McCann likely sustained a broken nose in the Orioles' 11-5 win over the Blue Jays in the first game of Monday's doubleheader, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

McCann was hit in the face by a fastball from Yariel Rodriguez in the bottom of the first inning. Despite bleeding profusely, McCann took his base and stayed in for the duration of the game, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored. He will go for a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis, and the 34-year-old backstop could end landing on the injured list if he did in fact suffer a fracture.

  • Rangers' Andrew Knizner: Demoted to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Knizner to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Knizner lost his spot on the 26-man active roster after the Rangers acquired Carson Kelly from the Tigers on Sunday to serve as the new No. 2 catcher behind Jonah Heim. Knizner has slashed a lowly .167/.183/.211 with one home run and nine RBI across 93 plate appearances in the big leagues this season.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: On bench in Dingler's debut

Rogers is out of the lineup Monday against the Guardians.

Rogers had started behind the plate in three of the Tigers' last four games, but he'll be back on the bench for the series opener with Cleveland. Even after the Tigers traded fellow catcher Carson Kelly away to the Rangers on Sunday, Rogers could find himself as the No. 2 backstop for Detroit. The Tigers promoted Dillon Dingler from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, and he'll be put to work right away as the team's starting catcher. Like Rogers, Dingler is regarded as a glove-first catcher, but he might bring more offensive upside to the table after breaking out with a .938 OPS over 301 plate appearances at Toledo this season.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Officially summoned to majors

The Tigers recalled Dingler from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Dingler will receive his first big-league promotion after batting .308 with 17 home runs, 52 RBI, 44 runs scored and five stolen bases over 301 plate appearances with Toledo this season. The 25-year-old could have a leg up over Jake Rogers for playing time at catcher down the stretch.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Sitting out first game of twin bill

Rutschman is absent from the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Rutschman surely will be back in the lineup for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll begin the first contest of the day on the bench. James McCann will start behind the plate as right-hander Zach Eflin takes the hill for his Orioles debut in Game 1.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Takes over as No. 1 catcher

Kirk went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Rangers.

Though his stat line on the afternoon wasn't particularly notable, Kirk made his second straight start behind the dish and should be primed to handle the bulk of the catching duties for the Blue Jays with Danny Jansen having been traded to the Red Sox on Saturday. Kirk's defense and pitch framing are worthy of a starting role, but he hasn't recaptured the form at the plate that allowed him to take home a Silver Slugger award during his age-23 season in 2022. He has shown some improvement at the dish over the past month, however, batting .300 with nine RBI and eight runs in his 16 games.
