Narvaez could see more playing time down the stretch, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox have little to play for in 2016, so they can use the season's waning weeks to see if Narvaez may be an answer to their long-term catching question. Friday's start was Narvaez's second in three games, and he drew three walks in a win over the Marlins.

Leon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.

Leon will get a regular day off after starting the past three games behind the plate. Bryan Holaday will take his place, batting eighth.

Sanchez is not in Friday's lineup against the Rays.

Sanchez will be out of the lineup after starting seven of the past eight games. He will be replaced by Alex Rodriguez, who will be manning the DH spot for his final game as a Yankee, and Brian McCann behind the plate.

Gomes (shoulder) has begun to participate in light baseball activities, but still has a ways to go before returning to the field, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes landed on the DL on July 18, and will still likely be out another couple weeks as he has only just began baseball activities Thursday. He will need time to go on a rehab assignment, and with a separated AC joint in his right shoulder, the team will need to be cautious with him as he could potentially be out another month. Roberto Perez and Chris Gimenez have been filling in behind the plate, and will continue to do so until he returns.

Sanchez had a huge day at the plate Wednesday, going 4-for-5 and hitting his first career major league home run en route to a 9-4 comeback win over the Red Sox.

Sanchez hit double-digit home runs in all but one of his seven minor league seasons, so there is reason to expect some level of power from the young catcher, who got the start at DH on Wednesday. With the departure of Carlos Beltran and phasing out of Alex Rodriguez, Sanchez has a clear path to getting starts at DH for the Yankees. He's now hitting .321 over 33 big league at-bats.

Perez was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake following Tuesday's game, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.

With Geovany Soto (knee) ready to come off the DL, Perez will head back to Triple-A to serve as organizational depth. That said, Soto has had a very hard time staying healthy this season, so it would not be surprising if Perez found his way back to the big leagues before the end of the season.

Garver was promoted to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.

Garver showed continued production at the plate at Double-A ball, posting a .257/.334/.419 slash line with 66 RBI over 95 games, and he was rewarded with a promotion to Triple-A.

Thole went 0-for-2 and scored a run in Monday's game against the Rays, which was just the third time this season in which Thole started consecutive games for the Jays.

Although the catcher's fantasy value is extremely limited, Thole has paid dividends to daily players that have rolled him out there at a bargain price in recent weeks. Over his last nine starts, Thole has seven hits, five RBI, three runs and three walks. These numbers don't exactly light up the scoreboard, but they are more than serviceable for a player who comes in at the bottom of the salary scale in daily formats.

Pentecost, who was placed on the seven-day DL after injuring his left shoulder on an awkward slide into home plate last Wednesday, will only be used as a DH this season and will not catch again until next year, Blue Jays Nation reports.

The saga of the 11th overall pick (and the top catching prospect) in 2014 continues with another unfortunate setback due to injury. Pentecost, who returned from offseason shoulder surgery in May, was expected by most -- including his Single-A Lansing manager John Schneider -- to be working behind the plate by now; however, it turns out the Jays never had plans for Pentecost to do more than DH while slowly strengthening his arm this year. Gil Kim, the organization's Director of Player Development, said, "I think there's been some confusion (about the plans for Pentecost) from what I've been reading. The most important thing was for him to get consistent at-bats at a full-season affiliate. He's doing very well. We don't plan on him catching before the end of the season."

McCann is out of the lineup Monday against the Mariners, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

With the right-handed Hisashi Iwakuma taking the mound for Seattle, the Tigers will opt to start Jarrod Saltalamacchia behind the dish. McCann, who's hitting just .168/.211/.197 against righties, will likely return to the lineup Tuesday night when Wade LeBlanc starts for the Mariners.
